the combat system overall is pretty good considering what game it is but it's not that deep, story is uninteresting and so are most of the characters

WB is known for making pants-on-head retarded decisions in general.
They were literally talking about abandoning all single player games to focus entirely on Games As A Service games almost immediately after the massive success of this game.
So yeah. WB. Retarded. Luckily they changed their mind like a year later or something.

I like how the ps4/xbox one versions had to change some of the castle architecture to keep the last gen consoles from exploding. The bridges connecting two areas now have little roofs and walls so they didnt have to render the outside world at the same time as hogwarts which would probably have caused super low fps

i have never watched any harry potter movies or read books so it was my first experience with the universe and i enjoyed it a lot
gameplay itself was pretty meh, but the roleplay was fun, you get to do a lot of cool stuff, missions were alright, good thing that there's not that many very long missions, graphics and visuals are also pretty good, it IS overall a decent game, and it only takes only like, 45h to beat, so despite a lot of stuff being repetetive it doesn't overstay its welcome

Most collectibles and trophies are made with one goal in mind, to waste as much of your time as possible with inane grind and repetition.

It's shit ubisoft open world slop but fucking excellent Harry Potter fanservice. Given the combat is serviceable it's one of those "only buy if you like the franchise" games, though to be fair, it's extremely, extremely good at pulling the fanservice. I just wish it was a also good game.
Also lesbians and pajeets and niggers and troons in 1800s England.

Nice for fans of the IP. Fun little world to explore with nice graphics and a fair bit of HP charm. Combat is pretty derivative zelda/souls style lock on and roll type, but is nicely done enough and the cycling spell sets can be fun. There are some fun features and side stuff to do but a fair bit of what you'd expect is missing as well. No Quidditch for example, little in the way of house involvement and class work although it's not completely absent. Story is not overly compelling but is decent enough. Some of the side quests are better actually and have some interesting characters.
All in all pretty nice and decent fun for what it is, which is a relatively generic open world AAA ubisoft-style affair. I'd recommend it highly for fans of HP, not so much for non-fans.

They had plans for adding quidditch but WB meddled and told them no because they wanted a separate quidditch game made by another studio. That ended up getting cancelled afaik.

Combat loop is fun, exploring is fun, collecting is fun. The story cucks itself by not giving you the ultimate power once you ask for the choice is presented to you because the devs assumed all the pearl clutching they did during the campaign was enough to convince you that obsession with power is le bad.
