just finished this game, what were my thoughts on it?

important caveat is that i played the legendary edition, which apparently "fixes" the ending by clearing up a lot of that. like for example, we see the crew of the normandy survive, and even though the relays were heavily damaged, there are still survivors
i still didn't like the ending

I never played past 2, the giant terminator boss was to ridiculous for me.

Not going to lie, I don't hate the game and I think there's far too much hate directed at ME3 that blatantly ignores the massive flaws of the first and second game.

ME1 is a defining game for me even though I was 19 when it came out, just the atmosphere, the mood, the music, the rich setting, lore and world building, it was all so incredible at the time, finally a true sci-fi RPG and it made you excited for the future.
But when you replay ME1 today its flaws are very glaring. There's charm to some of the flaws, but every single planet having the same copy pasted structure you've already been inside a dozen times already, every planet having the same terrain that looks like it was created with a push pull tool with stretched textures, and the lack of side content in general. I mean compared to ME2 and 3, there's hardly any interaction with your squad. Their quests are very barebones, like Wrex's armor for example, it's just going to a copy pasted base on some random planet, grabbing it and he doesn't even need to be with you when you do it. Or Garrus's quest with the Doctor, another ship environment we've already done before.

ME3 though has a lot of good stuff despite the flaws of the ending which honestly IMO is silly with the 3 colors, but it's not that bad. I've played games with far FAR worse endings than ME3. Deus Ex Human Revolution comes to mind, such a brilliant game for 90% of it, then the ending is pushing 3 buttons for a cutscene that has 0 consequences in the next game. Just lame.

But 90% of ME3 is actually fantastic, and I loved the atmosphere and apocalyptic Reaper invasion even if the segment on Earth kind of sucked. But they actually improved the ending a bit at least, adding some more content even though it's mostly just a cutscene and the stupid stuff like the star child being an adult sized down lol, but still it's not THAT bad. Plenty of games have far worse endings and don't get ridiculed anywhere near as much as ME3 did.

The other endings are just silly anyways. How does it even work? Destroy at least makes sense, you destroy the relays and the reapers, it's simple and sensible. The others involve space magic beams across the galaxy that instantly turn all people into synthetics or control the reapers to make everyone synthetic. It's just dumb.

That's definitely a test for people that don't think beyond their immediate decisions. It's not that they're moral, it's that they believe themselves to be moral. It's actually a selfish trait. More about making themselves feel like a righteous savior than what's actually good for everyone. That's why liberals are so obsessed with super heroes and niggers. Savior complex. They would let the world burn as long as everyone loves them.

for me it was mostly good until i had to do thessia. the random lore dump about the goddess being prothean, kai leng, the illusive man's base kinda sucked, the illusive man himself (genuinely what was the point of this character?), and the final earth fight was one of the worst designed encounters i've ever played (i was on insanity. at one point there were 4 banshees alive. i had to save my adrenaline rush to beeline for the missile launcher and just ignore all the enemies, and even then it was very touch and go)
the citadel DLC was also really bad. i don't really understand why people think it's good. i guess it's one of those "you had to be there" things

You thought it was a kino conclusion, it had surprisingly good gunplay for a 13yo game that more than holds up, and you felt satisfied importing your Shepard all the way from Eden Prime to breathing under the rubble at the end of the Reaper War. There's nothing like your first blind playthrough of the trilogy anon, enjoy it.

I mean Kai Leng, I forgot about him but yeah, he's definitely the worst part of the game everyone agrees on that. ME3 has some cringe stuff with the whole Cerberus plot.

I agree about Earth though, it was just a bad segment of the game that should have been better for the finale of a trilogy.

The Citadel DLC is just fun, it's comic relief from a very bleak main game I guess, I find it enjoyable and a nice send off to the franchise in a way, to get to have some fun with all the characters. I found myself reloading the party in the casino for example just to see what dialogue I would have depending on who I took with me and having fun with that.

You thought that the Reaper Invasion should have been split across 2 or maybe 3 games and that cramming it into just 1 led to it feeling very rushed and anticlimactic, also making the Reapers seem lame and overhyped in-universe.
You also thought it was a missed opportunity to not have a batarian companion who would reluctantly fight alongside you but talk shit about humans the whole time.
