So can someone tell me wahts the appeal? Whats th eincentive to paly this over literally any other system that plays video games? Why would I play Monster Hunter or Dragon Quest on this when I can play it on my PS5 instead? Why is it selling 10 million in its first 6 months on the market when I never see anyone in real life playing or talking about it?

Games and being able to play Switch 1 games better.
There is absolutely nothing else to it, people wanted a more powerful Switch, they got a more powerful Switch..

It has some games I want that aren't available otherwise, and also for games that I don't care about the visuals for or wouldn't mod, a portable version can be nice (for example I enjoyed playing Wind Waker on it in bed, which I cannot do with my PC and an emulator)

Everything the Switch 1 has plus everything it'll get during its commercial lifetime.
In 6 months alone it'll have Mario Kart World, DK Bananza, Zelda Hyrule Warriors, Kirby Air Riders and Metroid Prime 4. That's almost 1 new game per month, and that's ignoring the upgraded versions of past games and Classics releases.

The other 2 consoles can only dream of something like this.

The appeal is that people liked the Switch, and Nintendo came along and said, "Look, here's a Switch that isn't a total piece of shit, how about upgrading yours?"
It's that simple.
People aren't buying the Switch 2 because of Mario Kart or DK, but because the Switch 1 is old, obsolete, and everyone is tired of it, so people want an upgrade for a more premium experience.

Detail: the Switch 2 screen is a total disaster, however, the worst LCD screen you can buy on the market today, hands down. It's the only thing about it that doesn't feel premium.

It's not selling well and nintendo knows it that's why they are hiding the sales numbers. We got that 8 million figure and now they've been quite.

It's likely not even surpassed wii U and the sales have slowed down greatly.

It's all about price, why would someone buy this for $900 total with the console, 4 games, case, screen protector. For nearly that price you can buy a used legion go for $400 and that price point and still have $500 left.

Hell you can build an entire future proof upgradeable AM5 PC for $700 with a 1080p monitor 110% SRGB freesync 144hz.

Donkey kong bonanza and mario kart world are just not worth it. Also this new generation of nintendo games all having the exact same plasticy art style, with no effort into the design or mechanics of their games means no one wants to play them.

Super mario oddyssey, donkey kong bonanza and mario kart world all have the exact same art style and graphics they are the same game just different skins.

It's still the best console to have alongside with a PC. Everything else isn't worth it if you have a decent rig. Pricing can be full retard but ToTK running at a smooth 60 at 4k is pretty amazing. I couldn't finish it on the first one because of it dipping so fast once a single explosion happens but I can't put it down now.

The PS5/Xbox don't have "exclusives" when you compare them to the PC, not the Switch. Among the normalfags who rely exclusively on consoles, the PS5/Xbox will give them more options than the Switch 1.
The Switch 2 is still an unknown. We don't know if it will receive the same modern releases as the other consoles.

So 10.36 million units, that doesnt mean its going to continue selling at that pace. It hasn't surpassed the wii U and my original point stands.

The switch 1 sold great and parents bought it because it released at $300 at launch, that's $200 cheaper than the switch 2 and the games cost $40-60, $20-40 difference compared to the $70-$80 games now. So parents and people spent maybe $450 on average with a couple games.

So tell me who's paying nearly $850 with tax to get 4 games and a switch 2 console with accessories. People aren't buying its just not happening.

The switch 2 was successful because the games were priced meh but the console was a good price.

To have huge sales you need parents to buy it for their kids for christmas and their birthday. The switch 2 is literally targeted at kids.

If parents don't buy the console sells poorly. Same happened with the 3DS same happened with the wii U at start. Switch 2 should be $350 with its hardware.

The switch 2 is literally DOUBLE the cost and a little more than the switch 1 when you factor in games accessories.

It's not hard to see why people were okay with spending $450 vs $850. The stats don't lie people aren't buying it.

What I'm saying is that for normalfags who only play on consoles because they think consuming a closed operating system computer where they can't install their own hardware/software is a good idea, the Switch 1 has a more limited library than the PS/Xbox.
The PS/Xbox only lose their appeal when you compare them to the PC, not the Switch. To say that other consoles can only "dream" of a library like the Switch's, when they have a more varied library because of their infinitely superior raw power compared to the Switch 1, is ridiculous. The Switch 2 can't even enter the discussion yet because at the moment practically all of his games can be played on Switch 1.

Because some people want it portable? Because Dragon Quest is a Nintendo-platform series so most fans will be on Nintendo platforms? Just because I can play Kingdom Hearts on the Xbox Series X better than on a PS4 doesn't mean I'm going to opt for the SeX version over the PS4 versions since Kingdom Hearts is a Sony series with some Nintendo releases. I'm sure many people think the same way. It's like buying NEO TWEWY on the PS4 for anything other than novelty's sake when TWEWY was a Nintendo DS series.
