There's a big story about the production of 2077. Allegedly, CDPR had an internal split over how to make the game. After Witcher 2 they were gearing up for Witcher 3. One team wanted to double down on the immersive RPG elements, and the other team wanted to make it more casual and adventure/open-world focused. Team Old-School RPG were instead offered to work on Cyberpunk, while Team Nu-School Adventure worked on W3.
W3 was an amazing success, thus "proving" that the Nu-School Adventure model was the correct one. Team Old-School and Team Nu-School were each apparently tasked with presenting a take/elevator pitch for Cyberpunk (which Team Old-School had already been conceptualizing for years now), and the higher-ups went with Team Nu-School's approach.
Obviously Team Old-School are upset, but keep working on Cyberpunk cause it's a dream gig, but eventually they all slowly fall off the project as the vision shifts away from what they wanted into what we got.
My understanding is that this is also the reason for the early-launch bugs - Team Old-School understood the engine extremely well, whereas Team Nu-School did less so.
