At launch it was literally a bunch of 8th/9th gen ports of old games that have been available on other platforms for years and Mario Kart.

Fast forward a few months and we got a 3D DK and few more "Switch 2 editions" of Switch 1 games that EVERYONE (150 million units sold btw) who wanted to play them has already played and more old PS4/PS5/PC/XSX late ports of games that people who wanted them have already played

And now the big highlights for its first year on the holidays are:

Prime 4 (a switch 1 game)
Pokemon (a switch 1 game)
Kirby Air Ride (another racing game from a B tier Nintendo franchise)

I personally owned a Super Nintendo, Nintendo 64, got a gamecube for Christmas, our family all owned Wiis (and admittedly made me hate motion controls), and personally bought a Wii U (got Tropical Freeze, Wonderful 101, Bayonetta 2 and Mario Kart 8). Of course for handhelds I had a gameboy, gameboy color, Gameboy Advance (this was fantastic), and a Nintendo DS. My siblings then got a Switch. Most of my gaming is Nintendo hence why I only really talk about Nintendo franchises

The only other competitor consoles I had laying around was Xbox (was just a halo machine), my brother had a Xbox 360 I played Mw2 on occasion, and I bought PS2 just to play one game that needed swapmagic due to region locking shenanigans.

Nintendo Switch Online is great. Access to all of the features for one whole year costs less than one Switch 1 blockbuster game. The "dripfeed" is a non-issue because there are so many games to play. You can also get profile icons, GameChat, and other benefits. All of this, for a once-a-year fee of just $50. I know this, because I paid $50 for Nintendo Switch Online, and now, I don't have to worry about paying $50 again for a very long time.

Only Metroid Prime Remastered was a good deal. Donkey Kong Country Returns and Luigi's Mansion 2 is probably the worse deals Nintendo has ever made. Yes but 99% of the platforming challenges you will encounter in Odyssey do not need the advanced moves, not even in many of the bonus rooms. They are fluff for advanced users but the game design itself and the platforming doesn't require you to get better at them.
