Does cursed mode just make it a puzzle game? I wasn't having very much fun. Beyond the "do the start in an obvious way" the only difficulty is that I just need to use more specific builds. I'm really disappointed since it just isn't very...fun. Just more restrictive. "Don't do silly stuff".

I think getting into meat apartment 35 will let you unlock the remaining iris keys, but otherwise you may be fucked and will just have to fight a tougher Unity final boss if you're going for the unity ending. I live under a rock can some anon tell me if all content is available in normal mode or have to do the very last one?

The meat world is conceptually one of my favorite things in this game I think. Maybe I'm just a sucker for "under the veil" and "hidden from the naked eye" reveals because this fits one of those to a T. This was right there all along the whole time, right underneath all the other insanity.
Then there's the "Organs" aspect. I swear I've seen this idea done in other games with a boss having "buffs" you have to kill, but the way it's presented here is gruesome and uncomfortable. I really like it.
The music and art probably helps a lot, I really like the presentation.

Her Ice, Fire and Acid cans are pretty good with the tank gear...but she's not that amazing desu and she takes twice the supplies to heal and refuel stamina
She's very sweet and her new interactions are cool though, I like her as a character

Roaches though? He's insane, he's definitely top tier no matter which way you use him
Basic attacks and abilities stacking roaches is absurd and acts as a second bleed with a "Fester" option tied to his skills
Thunderoach is a mega nuke with 2-3 roach stacks and even does a decent mount with 0 roach stacks
He has a point in his quest where he splits in 2 and can act twice per turn, I think he's better as one thing because it halves his damage but it has potential to be insane

Phillippe has Bad Breath from Final Fantasy Morbols and does really big burst damage from what anons have shown

Audrey is a sweet character and has very wholesome interactions, however she is nonfunctional until you kill trench digger for ballistic damage, and still pretty weak after that. She is basically a worse lyle (both do crushing and acid dmg, but Lyle also sports piercing damage and the ability to use weapons). If I was the dev I would have moved her key to Eugene's shop and reduce the price and give her more base stats or give her starting equipment she is not worth forking over $170 and $5 of coins. The idea is she is the tank/healer archetype but this game healing is awful outside of Fred in a jar.

Roaches also apparently got buffed with cockroach spawning higher as well so you can get him pretty early on. Generally when looking at characters i feel like if you can do damage that isn't pierce/crush/slash it's a huge boost to your versatility.

The issue with Joel is you have to play the mini game with him and technically you can just engage a lot of multi-encounters kill 2 and reset stacking up his HP infinitely. He's a late game powerhouse definitely but he's weak to early (like weaker than Sophie). I personally feel like the later levels are a lot easier than the earlier ones anyway so I don't value as heavily scaling. He's a pretty easy recruit if you math out the toothpaste spawns (3 from astronomer room when it opens) (1-2 from tooth fairy) (4 from Eugene store).

With the Patchwork set and double HP belt I still got him to 540 HP, allowing him to dump 300+ damage on exalted four and all their helpers each turn

There are more unique enemies on cursed. Warzone adds commandos to every normal encounter. The APC barfs out 5 dudes if you dont kill it in time.
Antoine becomes a multiphase boss fight and is now mandatory to progress in the game. The little roach bandit now has his whole roach family to fight with him and another twist for the final part of the battle.

I want to do a Sophie/Joel/Rat cursed run but getting Sophe on day 1 or day 2 is a RNG crapshoot. If I let Sam rot his teeth I can get the 8 toothpaste to get Joel on day 2 and use Leigh to speed up Rat Child's growth. Lack of firearms will make endgame encounters tougher.

This game’s humor is weird. It doesn’t feel forced, even with the setting. Philippe’s whole thing is so funny, I just wish there was more to him. I think it would fall apart with a different art style or writing style. I hate the word cringe, but here it feels like the opposite of that, even with all the dumb monsters and body horror that goes way further than most actual horror games.

This might be confirmation bias knowing the creator is from Montreal but the humor feels very French, in that it is made with a self-awareness of the situation. Dan is demonstrative of attention-seeking streamers and is really funny because his character is taking the piss out of those people. Rabu is kinda the same, you are inflicting symbolic infinite suffering to something everyone hates in any story as punishment for having to endure stupid Jar Jar Binks characters.

I think what sells the body horror is that the monsters adopt ideas that any person would find actually horrifying: too many eyes, teeth, tentacles. It's not like some kind of Resident Evil thing where every appendage seems built to kill people, the monsters in the game look as if they have some terrible tortures to inflict on you before they kill you.

And personally I think what really gives the setting a somewhat believable tone is that every person you encounter and Sam himself are the sort of people who would actually refuse to look outside and this is why they are the only survivors. They defy convention in real life and in this case legitimately believe the warnings that alien bullshit will happen if you look outside. Because they believed conspiracies before and this is what actually protected them. And Sam's companions that did look, they are simply a small minority of people in the building who managed to retain their sanity. And I think most importantly about the setting is that it's all fucked out there - The Thing won already and the Astronomers' and Sam's nonsense was just some shut-ins last go at saving the planet.

Finally, the music did a lot of work. It was good.

I did it with only 2 destroyed on Survivor, with Hellen/Dan/Roaches. I think I could do it replacing Dan with someone tankier and if I'd stockpiled more elixirs and stimulants.
Painful stab, rat claws disease, and whip constrict at the start, then Roaches alone can provide the rest of the status effects and DPS while the others heal each other.

While I think the new endings from 2.0 are retarded, the characterwriting kino is absolutely solid, and you don't really get the same kind of 'fantastical people doing mundane things' setup in most RPGs. He's definitely secretly one of the major reasons the game is as good as it is, whether for the music or the writing.

I would say that some of the characters you encounter don't choose not to look outside because they're loonies that believe in monsters, but because they were taking a nap or chilling, heard a commotion, and were pretty sure those rumors about looking outside turning you into a monster are probably valid, since, you know, your neighbor apparently turned into a monster with hundreds of eyes and teeth.
It's why I'm fond of the priest door encounter. Felt realistic to have someone have their faith shaken but still try to do their best to help thy neighbor. Most people who've despaired or succumbed to emotion will have likely turned or died already. Only people with strength of character and some lucky ones will remain sane.

Thats literally the only way the endings work. If she was right, any ending except for the perfect ritual ones would end the same as Unity with the earth being eaten. Her notes explicitly say the visitor believes that the earth is part of him and the ritual must be done so we can lie to him and convince him to leave. I don't think the apartment building would be the WORST, since in No Going Back there's 124 Gods and only 1 of them comes from the apartments (assuming el ebin earthquake worm man is actually one of them). I'm probably gonna have to start my cursed run all over, I didn't anticipate the entrance to the basement getting padlocked by the insect weeb and I've simply wasted way too much getting there in an attempt to get Aster. Trying to do so also locked me out of a couple other companions I wanted due to time limited quests. Also Benjamen was bugged and I couldn't interact with him at all for some reason. And then I learned I accidentally got one companion too many and even if I did make it through to the last Astronomer he wouldn't join me anymore anyway.

It was a good learning experience at least, this isn't as punishing as other games (or at least compared to some of them like Darkest Dungeon) so knowing this stuff ahead of time will make this easier in the future. I have the seperate save file with only Sam and Morton at the very start of Day 2, so thankfully, I can just use that to splinter off into as many new runs as I want.
I'm sure I'll get Aster someday.
