If you look at most successful gachas, they do actually have something going for them, like stories which players can enjoy.
BA is a waifu collector, but it does get regular new story updates that are fun to follow.
Also, these sparking and pity systems are so common that it's totally possible to not treat these as gambling games.

I don't think anyone would gamble on these games at all if they didn't have the super hot girls in them, so I don't think people are addicted to the gambling aspect.
