last thread convinced me to start tales of immortal and now im having a lot of fun and sold on this chinese setting stuff after only caring about japanese games for the past 3 decades. Any other games you anons recommend?

Amazing Cultivation Simulator and Wandering Sword both look the best but I might try sword and fairy since it seems the closest I can get to high quality stuff for now but I do hope where the winds meet is good even though it being an online game kinda makes me hesitant. Oh and Dynasty Warriors is always awesome.

Also any anime/tv shows to recommend?

The translation's jank but Lord of the Mysteries is a decent read. Nothing groundbreaking, but the author has a certain talent of setting up interconnected plot points long terl and paying off foreshadowing when you least expect it.

I've played Amazing Cultivation Simulator and Matchless Kung Fu before. People often describe Cultivation Simulator as Chinese Rimworld and Matchless Kung Fu as Chinese Kenshi, although there are obviously many differences since there are elements of cultivations in the chink games that are more autistic, like what kind of martial art your guys is learning. I had fun with Tale of Immortal too, but stopped when I reached the 8th stage of cultivation because I got bored.

I think chink ones are called donghua, though I know nothing about those. I do like Thunderbolt Fantasy a lot, like those anons recommending the series. A lot of people seems to be weirded out by the puppets, but that's normal, you will quickly adjust to it.

Martial World is the most cliche Xianxia imaginable but it's actually good. I think everyone who wants to get into xianxia novels should start with it.

I've been hooked on Crown and Adventure this past week. It's more of a Mount & Blade style game but it also has a strong Cultivator class. Although Ranger is by far the best class. The map is huge and there's tons of content including kingdom building. The negatives are the translation, like always, and a lot of quests are humiliation rituals for the PC. He just can't stop huffing tranquilizers and eating spiked food, lots of losing in cutscenes as well.

I ended up dropping it cause like basically every Xianxia in existence it kind of loses steam and goes on for way too long but at that point I was at the Phoenix clan part in the upper world which was hundreds of chapters in so it's still one of my favorite Xianxia novels. Ranger is meant to be the auto attacking class with multiple times the attack speed of the others, but there's an AOE gun in the game as well. You don't need spells or a big army if you attack 3 times a second for 1K damage in a 20 area. He also has a mount so can he can really zoom around the battlefield.

Is a good snes/ps1 pixel rpg, alot of freedom to roam.
Alot of quest give you a additional very strong party member, you can use those to fuck around for farm/side questing.
Do not pick the stick as a weapon, the canon choice is the sword. (you will join a sword sect for plot)

You should have a troop strength of around a million, though, because you are going to get dogpiled. And if you take that Caucaid city next to the demon realm they are going to turn up with tens of millions, lol. Ohhh I've been debating bringing this up in wuxia threads since its kind of a mixed setting. Melee Ascendant is super funny feels like I'll be super strong once I get to the late game but for now just clearing whole waves of the non-hero enemies is a great feeling and actually getting the sword rain to murder heroes felt good too. That's the core gameplay with the fun part being finding rare skill books with the right attributes. I don't really think it's sandboxy at all. The progression is pretty straightforward and its diablolike combat is oddly satisfying.

I always go sectless. Makes grinding much quicker and easier and you can also fight a boss every now and then that will drop the highest quality books for whatever level of cultivation you're at.

Here is my sectless character with an example of one of his mind skills. The only reason I don't have all 8 mind skills equipped is because I'm too lazy to grind for skill points (also I finished the game on hard and it was too easy).

It's easier and less grindy. I mean, look at all these fruit I get just by passively playing. I don't grind for them, they just come to me as I play. Same with books.

What the game doesn't tell you is when you're sectless anything like fruits and books you obtain have a bias towards the highest martial arts/spiritual root level you got.
Literally in every single area you go to, you'll be given shitloads of fruit of the highest level skill you got, and everytime you cultivate you got a chance of finding loads more fruit that are likely to be the highest level skill you got.
And every area has a boss that spawns like a few times a year, this boss will always drop a few of the highest quality books that will always be skills for your highest level skill.

It basically eliminates the grinding needed to raise your skill levels and get new skills, those things will just passively happen as you play instead of having to earn contribution at a sect and buy them.

Its really cool but I feel anons kinda sold this weird. I kept seeing people talk about getting revenge for their wife dying and these personal stories but npcs dont even wanna talk to me and the main quest has been put on hold so I can do some progression.

The twin problems of BoC is that the MC is the least interesting character and should have been retired by now, and that it can’t stick to a premise. It went from being a a saccharine slice of life with light satire, to embodying the tropes while winking at the camera, to full on low level xianxia, but still keeps the slice of life as a millstone that drags the pacing to a halt whenever it turns up.

I don't know what the absolute best build is, but when you get the option to pick a passive after breaking through, always try to get the ones that give life steal. I think there is 3, the first gives 7%, then 14% and finally 21%.
As long as you've got these the game becomes trivial.

I also know most people say sword and fire are good elements, fist and blade are also decent and I think spear and finger are the worst and should be avoided. The others are situational like wind having the best movement skill or lightning being good at clearing mobs but shit against bosses.

I will say this. Unless you're playing on the very hardest difficulty, most builds will work fine. Some might require a bit more grinding than others but you should be able to use any build just fine.

Also when it comes to making your choice or artefact at the start, the green pot is by far the best. The red eye is fine. The blue pendant is the worst and unless you know how to cheese it, then it offers almost no benefit.
