Can someone please explain how the fuck this company is still supposedly going strong when the industry around them is crashing with mass layoffs and sales failures?

Console exclusives are still console exclusives instead of letting most franchises becomes multiplats for the sake of selling them to a wider audience at the cost of your console having nogaems exclusive to itself..

They can actually manage their budgets and don't fire their workforce on a whim like the rest of the industry does, it is that simple.

I think what the AAA western industry doesnt get is that good devs arent seamlessly exchangeable.

If you want to build a successful studio, you need lots of time and chemistry. You cant just hire senior artists and programmers from here and there, paste them together and expect them to shit out a classic people cares about by giving them instructions of what your analists said the target audience wants.

Good, renowned studios have people that has worked there for quite a bit. There's a great deal of mentoring, a culture and a way of thinking about games/toys that cant be taught within a single project to a large number of people that came from different backgrounds.

Companies like nintendo and capcom are old as fuck, and they have been cherishing an atmosphere and a way of doing things very gradually along the years, absorbing new recruits selectively and thinking long term about their compatibility and well being. Turns out that slow and steady wins the race.

Wrong. The attach rate on the Switch 2 is fucking abysmal, it's 1/6 that of the Wii U despite only slightly lower sales.

Retards are buying the Switch 2 out of hype, realizing it has no games, then it just collects dust in their closet
Anonymous No.725029692 [Report] >>725031995
The best part of owning a Switch 2 is watching snoys here melt down over it every single day, in between playing all the exclusives that snoys will never have.

Nintendo exclusives sell consoles. Pokemon, Mario Kart, Smash, Zelda, etc. Add this to the console being a preferred way for many to experience games because of the handheld mode. Its only rival is the Steamdeck, but less people go that route (i think Steamdeck users generally ALSO have a nice PC, so the Switch is a more accessible all-in-one). I'm not impressed by Nintendo's output in recent years, but they're the only company that puts out exclusives of decent quality (except Pokemon). They still need to double their output for me to buy a switch 2.

>Its only rival is the Steamdeck
And even that is barely a "rivalry" when you consider that Switch 2 sold more in 3 days than Deck sold in 3 years.

Dude, most people only buy consoles once and there are currently 2 switch 2 games (plus pokemon as it's unplayable in the original). Attach rate only goes up

But you don't own a switch 2. You waiting for that "limited edition"

obviously this, but one thing that's also not mentioned enough is that their games are fundamentally different from the competition

look at switch's best selling titles, you have a kart racer, a life sim, two open world action adventure games, a platform fighter, two turn based rpgs, one 3D and one 2D platformer and a party game

besides the action adventure games everything else is absent from sony and microsoft's catalog and even most big third party devs ignore these genres, this gives nintendo's proposition a unique appeal that greatly contributes to their success

Uhm... over 10M consoles in just 4 months is definitely something, and this is before christmas. They might actually manage to sell 15M units by the end of the year.

As for the Switch, it was a huge success, but at the current pace it might not manage to surpass the PS2. Of course that would be different if they actually decided to cut the price, but it doesn't seem that's going to happen anytime soon.

Most of the Switch 2 buyers are Switch 1 owners and that system sold 150 million. They probably shipped a lot of stock meant for the holidays into Sept to get over the 10 million number

That said, software sales and the overall attach rate have been lower than the Switch 1. IIRC, Switch 1 sold 27 million titles when it was at 7 million.

Of course the Switch isn’t going to be the PS2 when Sony manifests another million PS2s into reality whenever it looks like it might be overtaken

If the put the Switch on sale now for Christmas with a bundle, they would easily net the remainder sales they need before the year ends

Did the Wii U achieve that attach rate in four months?
