Fuck CS Source for ruining Counter Strike

Nah CS peaked with Source. Community maps and mods were fun af and the engine helped a lot with that.

>casualized crap
It’s just the nostalgia speaking. Anyone who played CS before Source knows what a giant step down it was.
Movement in 1.6 was infinitely better, as was the gunplay.
Sure, jailbreak and surf was fun, but that’s not Counter Strike.

what makes it the "highest skill ceiling"?
it doesn't have
>ADS
>deadzone aiming
>leaning
>proning

other games have grenades, flashbangs, smoke, incendiary, and even more mobility (such as vaulting, and more maps designed with mobility options in mind)

Objectively some of the stuff in 1.6 are retarded. Like shields, buying ammo separately. Gunplay is probably slightly inferior in Source but it's still the better game.

woah, so this is the highest skill ceiling in FPS games...

More mechanics doesn’t inherently make something deeper, its how perfected the core mechanics are.
CS is, for example, way more complex than Valorant, despite having fewer mechanics.

CS was ruined the moment they made it so that after jumping your move speed is reduced for like half a second

i like buying ammo because usually at least one guy on the server would keep forgetting to buy ammo and it was funny

Shields were banned in competitive play in 1.6, and buying ammo is somewhat of a non-mechanic, neither good or bad.

1.6 is perfect with how bunnyhopping requires timing and skill, and failing stops you completely. Source made bhopping way too easy, and GO straight up removed it by capping the movement speed.

can someone tell me why zoomers are making edits of counter strike where they have to clutch the round to keep agartha hidden and when they do yakub congratulates them

How are the CS2 modded servers? I saw there are some zombie maps and stuff.

surfing felt worse in source other than you not randomly getting stuck on the waves anymore. i spent a lot of time surfing in 1.6 and a lot of stuff in source seemed worse so i never tried much of the community content after that.

>still the FPS with the highest skill ceiling
thats not Quake 2 CTF, Quake 3 or Unreal Tournament

the reason CS became popular - it has the lowest skill ceiling.

0.7 > 1.6

All CS purists are retards. The only real CS is cs_mansion in 0.4-0.7

>>725026006
Wrong. CS became popular because the barrier of entry was lower, but the skill ceiling is undeniably higher.

I was competitive UT player with team at time CS only appeared, and i am telling you for 100% Quake and UT players compeltely demolished CS players when they switched to that game.

CS was too casual and basically was for drunk retards in computer clubs who could drink their beer while ending for round end. It has team tactics factor, but nothing comparable to actual team competitive games like Q2 CTF or even UT modes. CS is mostly about just knowing maps. And 99% of players lack even basic aim skill, so any decent one moving from Q or UT became AWP gods and like.

When we switched to CS, we barely played it for few weeks and were touring in town demolishing all teams in different lan clubs because of basic teamwork and organization. Now CS has huge competitive scene and proffessional athletes, but it certainly not the highest skill ceiling game, though proffessional competitive would make even rock paper scissors ceiling high.

If you're going to pander to old man games, at least pick something like Quake 2.
This is the most simplistic gameplay anyone can post from a shooter beyond clicking on training dummy heads.
Anonymous No.725030125 [Report]
>>725025452
It is not.
It just has an older fanbase that replaced mechanical skill and finesse with learning patterns that players have to take when traversing the game's old and simplistic maps.
Valorant has a far higher skill ceiling than CS, and after 20 years playing on the same maps, would have the same type of memorization and routing patterns mapped out.
