Do you think Square-Enix is working on a Dragon Quest IV remake?
DQ1-3 have now received HD-2D remakes. Dragon Quest VII has a remake releasing in February. Yuji Horii said the reason we're getting a VII remake after I+II is because among projects in development, VII was just the one most ready for release next. If IV is getting a remake, do you think it will be an HD-2D remake or do you think they will approach it differently?
Before anyone complains about remakes, Dragon Quest X's development is clearly a monumental, time-consuming task and Enix has been embracing DQ remakes since the Super Famicom. They need to release other games in the DQ franchise while X is being developed.

I think VII is considered a special game to Enix/Armor Project and Horii for exactly the reason you cited (it already had a remake on the 3DS). I'm sure they will do something with IX, it may have to deal with Level 5's schedule. Based off comments made in the past, it sounds like Level 5 would want to be involved with a IX remake if it were to happen.

DQ4 on the DS is basically H2-2D anyways , but if it happens I hope that they'll remake the post-game and it's "This is what TRULY happened...but in another timeline and it's not canon lol fuck you" nonsense bullshit they pulled out of thin air

Remakes of 4,5, and 6 are basically a given. It's just a matter of when.
I can see 8 happening too eventually seeing as how it's basically the "Final Fantasy 7" of Dragon Quest (first fully 3D title, first game for many western fans).
The real question is if they'll ever do 9. The pain-point there is probably the metric shit-ton of 3D models they'd have to produce to account for all the weapons and armor.
I would genuinely love to see a HD remake of 9 that you could like, play all the way through in online co-op or some shit. That would be amazing.
