Thatcher was good for Britain in short term, but a net negative in long term. Thatcher made very hard calls that staved off England's fall into having the same level of economic importance as that of a developing nation. Lefties REALLY hate her for stamping out unions because the unions wanted to continue being a drain in the increasingly limited resources the UK was having. Her, along with Reagan had the best international relations policy of any world leader in the 20th century and navigated the Cold War shrewdly that baffled realists at the time at how effective they were.
