Yeah the game adopts an anti-slavery, anti-colonialism stance, and features first-wave feminism and anti KKK themes, but is that really the end of the world?
The game is subtle enough about it that it doesn't come off a jarring or immersion breaking, and there's enough good non-political content in the game to drown out the political stuff.
Had the game been made by Naughty Dog, they would've made half the men in the gang gay, and Sadie would be in lesbian a relationship with Mary-Beth. Oh and they'll force you to sit through an unskipable gay sex cutscene between Bill Williamson and Javier Escuella. Now THAT is what I would call woke. The RDR2 that we got was no more woke than a Trantino movie. A bit of progressive/pro-jewish messaging, but still palatable.

Tarantino movies have had subtle anti-white messaging in them as well. If you can watch Django Unchained or The Hateful Eight without an issue, then you should be able to enjoy RDR2 just fine. If you have a functional intellectual immune system, you can filter out the bits you don't like and enjoy the rest of the content which far outnumbers and outweights the "progressive" bits.

To answer your question, it's not a metric that determines the quality, but it's obviously deliberate omission despite being a massive part of life during the time period is worth every ounce of mockery it gets. It's a matter of taste, but I'd put rdr2 and the average asscreed game on the pretty much the same tier in terms of open world historical games. Especially when you factor in replayability.
