By now it's probably closer to 11-12 million in homes, thanks to Pokemon, Japan would have sold 250k units in October itself, so following that trend, 500k min for US, and another 250k for europe and around 250k for the rest of the world.

Still not buying one, especially if the numbers are true. Just means they will continue to release $70-$80 games with DLC. Hope everyone who wasted their money has fun with that.

The pace of Switch 2 sales just doesn’t make sense to me. There are over 150 million Switch owners, and nearly every major Nintendo franchise on the first Switch already hit record-breaking numbers. When the Switch 2 launched, the lineup was Mario Kart World and a handful of late 8th and 9th gen ports. If you were already a fan of those games, you’ve probably played them by now and wouldn’t want to spend another 60 or 70 bucks to replay them.

So with its main new titles being Mario Kart World and DK Bonanza, how is it still pulling record sales? Most of the rest are either late ports or “Switch 2 Editions” of existing Switch games. When the first Switch had Wii U ports, it made sense that they sold well because hardly anyone owned a Wii U. But the first Switch is one of the best-selling consoles ever, and almost everyone who wanted to play those games already has.

Nintendo is breaking sales records with what seems like a soft launch lineup, when by all logic, that should lead to slower adoption. I’m not expecting it to flop or anything. Compared to Sony and Microsoft, which release few real exclusives, having two solid exclusive games this early is impressive. But the numbers still don’t add up to me.
