If you never played blitz ball just imagine in captain tsubasa, everytime you got into a 1v1 with someone, instead of it being realtime you get a command prompt for your actions where you can then do your special moves, where it be blocks jukes or shots.

Its not really an exaggeration to call it a football jrpg because the handheld games actually had a random encounter system in the story mode
