1. They're owned by Sony
2. Who the fuck would buy?
3. A new developer wouldn't necessarily be a good developer nor a good developer be an interested one

I don't understand why people have so much beef with TiT
it isn't as good as the old games but I certainly wouldn't call it bad, are people really that hung up on the characterization of one side-character who barely appeared in the 3rd game?

>Furry /v/ros, it's over...
That's okay, Sly 3 ended on a high note that left me satisfied and content with what I got. Given that 2005 was also my junior year in high school, the closing of this franchise worked also as a close to my teenage years and the beginning of my adulthood. I would keep my PS2, but by 2007 I was employed, in college, and had built my own gaming PC. I bought the Orange Box and BioShock, beginning the next chapter of my life. I cannot possibly imagine a sequel to Sly 3 ever working, so I'm glad it was never attempted.

I am a furry gooner. I've consumed a lot of media specifically on the merit of it having anthro characters, but I must confess, I've never really resonated with the Sly Cooper series. I tried to play them... the weren't bad at all, just not for me. I just don't have the patience for 3d collect-athon style games.

Sucker Punch loves Sly Cooper
They've reference him in every single of one of their games since
They just wanted to move on to other projects because you only live once
It's why they ended his series on a high note wrapping up every major plot thread but left a teaser for whatever developer wanted to pick up the torch after them

To their credit, Sanzaru did have a strong understanding of what made the environments and general format so strong in the Sly games.
But, unfortunately, they understood absolutely nothing else.

>Everything that wasn't a carbon copy from 2 or 3, like the Ancestors' abilities, didn't have the tightness or cohesiveness of design that the original trilogy relied on.

>The minigames weren't as engaging on the whole.
>Carmelita was barely relevant, they could have used the time and resources it took to implement her for something else.

>The Ancestors should have presented unique platforming challenges by removing core aspects of Sly's moveset, but instead, most of them were carbon copies with a gimmick that made them worse than Sly himself.
>The villains are way less memorable and way less fleshed out.

>The story in general was weak. Sly has never been shown to have a compulsion for theft. Just a dedication to his familial legacy and a natural talent for it that complement each other. He wouldn't abandon Carmelita, whom he discarded that same familial legacy and chose to live a lie for, just to sate a supernatural thieving urge.

>Penelope was never evil. The Black Baron was a fib that Rube Goldberged into a problem she couldn't dig herself out of without the Cooper Gang's help. She had no motive to become the Black Knight, and it was massively retarded to take away the culmination of Bentley's character arc in the very next game.

>Sly is a jackass constantly insulting his friends, who refuses to take anything seriously.
>Bentley is a withering coward.
>Murray is just an easily manipulated retard with no self esteem.
>All of their growth is undone and they're reduced to one character trait picked out of a hat from the previous three games.

If they didn't botch the writing, it would have gone down as a minor disappointment like Jak And Daxter: The Lost Frontier.

But did butcher the story and characters, and that's why everyone hates it.

Come on, you can't convince any of them? Murray's been low-key gay the whole time. I'm sure you could get some bites if you played up that angle. If they want to be making shit that pushes the limits of graphical fidelity, why not focus on making the game look just as stylized as the cutscenes?

>>725065173
Minor because it wasn't a total disaster that retroactively makes the other games worse unless you refuse to consider it canon altogether.
You can safely ignore The Lost Frontier. It didn't have serious implications for the lore, and it didn't flanderize the characters to hell. It might as well not exist. You can't say that about Thieves in Time.

They only have enough people to make one game at a time and game development is harder now than it was back then

Again, it's 100% in their choice not to continue
Druckmann himself cancelled Jak 4 because it looked like what Naughty Dog wanted but not something fans would've wanted
It's only really a problem (assuming you think the story simply isn't over) if Naughty Dog themselves would either
A. Try to turn Jak & Daxter into something alienating
B. Actively prevented another studio from making a game in that series which going by Lost Frontier and Daxter they wouldn't have a problem with
Now stop and ask yourself, how many genuinely honest to god outside pitches for a new Jak game were given to Sony from trustworthy and reliable developers have happened?

They did. Murray was supposed to be a distasteful bisexual caricature. They got all the way to recording his lines before Sony forced them to tone it down.

Personally, I think it still came through without bashing you over the head with it, and he's better as a character for it. I don't think it would be the worst thing in the world to make it explicitly canon though.

Sorta. It was early 00s where gay was a joke. He's closer to Big Gay Al from South Park than a serious gay character

I would have believed this before the whole TLOU2 hilarity but looking back now it seems the decision was less about what the fans wanted and more about what Druckmann wanted.

desu I never liked the idea of The Last of Us. The Walking Dead had gotten old for me, along with the trope
>hurr hurr humans the real enemies in a zombie plague
and how it's presented as this ultra-serious masterwork when it's just a TPS zombie shooter with human enemies. The fact that it took over gaming for a while and the new God of War decided to join the bandwagon didn't do it any favors for me, either

We have no reason to believe she isn't just that strong, because you do get to play as her, briefly. She kicks LeFwee's ass on a level playing field without much help, and he's established to be a pretty dangerous guy regardless of his stature.
