they are, but they're playing f2p games like roblox and fortnite the same way millennial kids were playing neopets and f2p mmos. gaming is more expensive than ever for kids because nintendo merged their handheld division with their console division but they are fags and are charging console game prices for everything and rarely put their games on sale. when i was a kid most of the games i owned were handheld games because they were cheaper. initially i had to rent console games(this is dead) and the console games i bought were typically used but there's not even any stores selling used games around me now because digital killed them..

Simple, its average owner has or had approximately 3 Switches. Some are collecting them and have 5 or even 10, but most people just play. But it is a handheld, it breaks, battery dies, so depending on how and how much you use it, you could easily be right now on your third.
It's very unlikely that a Switch bought in 2017 and used regularly still works well enough for the user to not just buy another one.

A few of my friends bought PS5s because it can somewhat reliably play those dogshit UE5slop games that grind most PCs to a halt like STALKER 2, if only by the PS5 versions of the games being stripped down and gimped to run on PS5 hardware. They just don't want to alter any config files or install any third party mods to run a game on PC, the PS5 is a console where the developers do that for you so you don't have to worry about it. It is unfortunate that PC gaming has become so embarassingly shit, Sony is taking full advantage of that by releasing exclusive semi-unshittified versions of those games on their console.
