It doesn't fucking work, because scalpers have way too much disposable income thanks to COVID and can buy the whole stock right then and there the moment the store receives it, and still have enough to spare to buy up all the other stores in town.
TPCi doesn't care to try and actually fix this, obviously, because this is the most profitable the TCG has ever been in America. A sold pack's a sold pack, even if it's just scalpers, end of the day the revenue is what matters, not the potential joy of kids and hobby enthusiasts, because scalpers are guaranteed to keep buying en masse for years to come.

I was flabbergasted when I found Mega Evolution cards at my local Dollar General in the middle of podunk nowhere. Last I remember, they were still stuck in the Sword and Shield era. Bought two packs to share one with my brother. He got a Mega Latias Ex and I didn't get shit. The DG doesn't have Mega Evolution anymore, but they have a ton of Rivaled Destinies. For comparison, every nearby Walmart and Target are always stripped bare of cards. One city because a lot of people. The other city's Walmart likely because of niggers.
