> Killzone 2
I recommend giving Digital Foundry’s retro in it a watch, was like playing something from the future when it came out and is a rare case of strong technical work AND good art direction together.
> Arkham Knight
Still one of the best looking games ever made. Shame it has the classic Unreal Engine stutter struggle.
> Shadow of the Colossus (PS2)
If you played this on a CRT in its day, you know. The shitty de-make don’t hold a candle to Team Ico’s original art direction. Don’t even get me started on the ugly neon green blobs the PS3 version added in for … some reason (?)
> Crysis (Original)
Yeah, they really ruined a lot of the art style in the “remaster”. Tale as old as time. They blew the color saturation out to a laughable degree.
> Golden Sun (GBA)
Best looking GBA game for my money. Beautiful pixel art and stylization. Good game too.
> Jak & Daxter 1 (PS2)
60 fps. Amazing looking characters and art style choice.
I dunno guys the more time goes by it’s like the uglier game get. Realism =/= good looking art. It can help for some kinds of games but it’s not better for the same reason stylized art pieces can look great.
