I played Imperator day 1. It was garbage compared to EUV release. I also don't get what people mean by "barren content". I think there's quite a lot of content, the game just has a lot of annoying minor bugs, like junior PU partners becoming senior without any reason.

The UI is kinda shit. Doesn't give you the information you need at a glance like older titles did. Also pretty buggy.
The DLCs and announced updates look like they're going the HOI4 route of adding a little special thingy to each nation, instead of adding common features all nations can make use of. So after they sold $300 of DLC you'll have 30 nations with one unique mechanic each instead of a lot of mechanics all nations can use. It's just retarded. After seeing how stellaris turned around I'll not write it off now, but they won't get my money until shit is better, and even then imagine buying any dlc lmao.

I'm currently playing as Florence a country of medium relevance and there is a lot of flavour of decisions, unique techs for religion, culture group and specific tag.
For situations I had the Plague kill half my population and created an extreme food deficit in the Italy region and I had to stop automating my trade to fix it manually, I was involved into the Pope Vs HRE situation which the pope lost and am currently in the Pope Vs France situation and trying to help the pope to win (and trying to slow down the reformation as much as possible)
Hate the wonders and Mission trees which made EU4 shit and made me quit playing it
The content of 5 is extremely good and is much better than 4 is pretty much most aspects, though I'm a bit biased because I'm a fan of Vicky 2 and EU5 is a much better successor to Vicky 2 than Vicky 3 ever was

ck3 was a game. eu5 is a concept propped up entirely by what it's not. it's not eu4 because it doesn't have mana(it does), it's not a visual novel like vicky 3 because it has toy soldiers(it is), it's not a lame old game like vicky 2 because it's newer therefore better, it's not silly ebin teleporting generals like ck2(it has teleporting pops instead), and it's not le cksims 3 because you don't have enough options to roleplay as your ruler
