Ask the vendor for suggestions, some might require preamps. Or you can just get an audio interface which typically includes a built-in preamp.

also, to comment on the changes to cooking energy drinks and lollipops if someone hasn't seen it yet:
cooking them gets rid of the sleepy debuff after they run out which makes them far more useful now
for energy drink specifically though, it also has a small knockback when used, so make sure you're not around anyone else/in a safe place before you use it
HOWEVER, it also gets another buff to actually compensate this; the speedup now lasts for about 15 seconds when cooked instead of 10 seconds, so you have a bit more time to work with
most people probably already know about it getting rid of the sleepy, but the extra duration bonus is nice too

its super worth sussing out which mushrooms do what while you are on the ground, where negative effects like hiding the bar or ragdolling are less lethal. the lollipop effect is genuinely fantastic and the fact it activates during the climb up means you get more than twice the distance if you are smart about it.
theres no need to remember which bad effects belong to which colors, just remember the good ones and you are set.
