I am embarrassed that zombies still freak me out. Left 4 Dead is one of the few zombie shooters I can play, but never alone, it has to be online coop and without headphones. I hate zombies.

Pretty much nobody on the internet wanted to play Rochelle, and 90% of it was because she was the worst character put into the game thanks to an utter lack of personality. Coach was simply tolerated, and memed. Ellis was so-so. Everyone always raced to pick Nick first.
/v/ back then would play games together without it getting too gay (but it still got gay a lot). There weren't troons back then, but practically every /v/ group I joined up with on Steam, or other games had at least one dude who wanted to become one, however they were fairly innocent at the time. None of this political shit and trying to destroy the hobby/groups/be woke nonsense.
Most /v/-based Steam groups were dogshit filled with drama and they'd bring it to the board (Water's group, for example) Though board-agnostic groups were fine (IWMCSAH&B ((though they also had their fair share of faggots)))
However getting anons together to form a group to play stuff online wasn't impossible. Regular threads could happen where anons would go into online games with a very low barrier to entry in terms of cost or computer specs. Also people would actually play the games. And everyone was fucking White or the random SEA Asian immigrant or actual Asian. I had some fun with a few anons on Schthack back in 2009. Impossible to do that now.

So it was the opposite of what it's like now where it's just political trannies, Indians/Latinx, gay fags with major depression problems, nobody playing games, nobody talking, nobody making groups or any threads where anons try to congregate get shunted to /vg/ or deleted outright. And no fucking jannies because goddamn that was the worst thing moot did to this place. Also no more piccolodick sprays in Valve games because Valve are faggots now.

I think they should have made Rochelle a policewoman. She'd still have all the news report info due to being a cop, but would also add some new character dynamics between her and Nick. Maybe pull an angle where Nick kept trying to hide his convicted status from her while she figured it out pretty early on but doesn't say anything until he brings it up, instead teasing him about it from time to time.

I actually like the maps the Chinks and the Cykas make in the workshop. Some of them like Nanning really feels so homey and nostalgic to a degree as if the authors put a part of their memories of places they grown up with, making me feel nostalgic of my own place even if I am not a chink or even asian myself.
My BIGGEST gripe though is how they put calendars mark as either 2015 forward instead of editing the calendar to be 2009, the year when the Green flu hit.

Exactly, it somehow manages to be completely different from the Valve maps but it still fits the overall feel of the game.

Important opinion: I think all maps need to be designed so bots can finish them on their own.
Because I really like bullying them in singleplayer versus, but they often struggle in a lot of custom maps due to custom buttons and the like.

Yama is nice and comfy yet also kind of hard/challenging in expert - as it should be. Then there are stupid maps like that underground bunker that, although is nice, is just way too stupid hard.
Back to school, Zheng Cheng, Farewell Nanning, Splash Island, Suicide Blitz, Daybreak, Devil mountain. Yeah there are tons of fun well made maps and I thinl there are still more out there that I have to try.

I think calling simple texture and model replacements a "mod" to be a little disingenuous, or at least some more phrases need to be added to the lexicon. I also don't think a custom map should be called a "mod." To me, a mod actually alters some of the core gameplay elements, or adds to the game. Enhanced enemy AI, new enemy types, altering the weapon handling, stuff like that. Importing a Miku model you ripped from project diva and cleaned up in blender is technically a "modification" but it doesn't really feel like a mod.

If you can import shitty lewd "thicc" models or whatever into the game, people will praise it to high heavens online for the "great mod support."
