Lets be so real right now, did this thing and any future boxes have anything going for it. I really dont see why everyone is whining about "the death of xbox" this shit has been a console for the most normie people of all time. all it has is halo and even then i never really cared for that.
I think theres a reason literally no one emulates this shit

>I think theres a reason literally no one emulates this shit
isnt this due to it being one of the hardest consoles to emulate? or did they fix it

People are mostly crying at the death of Xbox because of the 360

It's a Ninja Gaiden & arguably Halo box. For that purpose, it's great.

Well which was it?
Anonymous No.725121926 [Report]
It murdered the gamecube in its crib for a good reason.

The OG Xbox's main value outside of of Halo was that all the multiplatform games ran the best on it.
Outside of that it was host to a handful of good titles, mainly from the Sega partnership.
For the 360 is was the platonic cultural conception of a console in the west, the PS3 had its weird architecture and the Wii was The Wii, immensely popular but filing an entirely different niche.
And in being the platonic ideal of a 7th gen console had a decent mix of good multiplatform support (While still being the best version of those games) punctuated by solid exclusives.
This lays it all out pretty well
https://youtu.be/w5u8jyPIrIY
And while it was a sin to make only cost money, it did have the best general netcode and online stability of the generation.
However the One and after are mainly paperweights outside of their emulation capabilities for older titles which is why most of the people upset at Xbox dying are those who got into it with the 360 and then moved over tot he PS4 anyway.

your mind might be fried from all the lolicon you gooned to, ogbox had gems like smt nine which was the pioneer of jrpgs.

This and 360 are excellent consoles with great libraries. I highly recommend them. What comes next does not reflect the greatness of these cosnoles.

I have an xbox and a 360 in my room rn
>I think theres a reason literally no one emulates this shit
because the architecture's fucked o algo

>OG
It didn't have many exclusives but it tended to have the best version of multiplats. Games like Splinter Cell had to be massively cut down for other consoles.
It also had ports of PC games (Doom 3, HL2) that wouldn't be possible on PS2/GC.
>360
Outside of the launch hardware failures, it was a solid competitor to the PS3. Significantly easier to program for, apparently.
>One
Even if they hadn't doomed it with Kinect+online+TV+etc, it didn't have much going for it. The base One was just the base PS4 but slightly weaker. Many games that ran at 1080p on the PS4 were 900p on XB1.
>Series
Actually decent hardware, but it never had a chance after the One.

Xbox was pretty great. Yea it was kind of the Halo machine, but it had a lot of underrated titles.
Halo alone made it a solid competitor with the PS2/Gamecube for its couch multiplayer element.
360 was arguably an improvement. Great games lineup. The Arcade marketplace was neat.
Had all the positives of the Xbox + it was an HD machine. Slightly more affordable than the PS3 and arguably had better games, unless you really liked certain PS3 exclusives like MGS4.

Shit hit the fan with the Xbox One announcement. That was kind of legendarily botched. I don't know how out of touch people at Microsoft actually are, but the idea of an always online mandatory Webcam attached to your console is very obviously corporate surveillance, and people actually like their privacy, so idk what the FUCK they were thinking. Lots of other dystopian/draconian bullshit with that console announcement.
If the Xbox One announcement didn't kill Microsoft, Bungie moving on from Halo and parting ways with Microsoft also killed the Xbox. Microsofts in-house Halo games sucked.
So the Xbox One was this awful draconian console with bad Halo games. That killed the Xbox's momentum.

Then they started doing this thing, for the past several years, of buying up devs and then never really producing any games with them. Idk what they were trying to do, maybe they had good intentions, but every time I heard the words "Xbox has acquired a new studio" I started taking it as a sign that that studio would probably never make anything again.

It doesn't measure up to ps2 or gamecube with exclusives but it's not a dire situation on xbox at all. Psychonauts is just as good as anything rare ever did. Kotor fucking rules. The pirates of the caribbean game is secretly a morrowind style open world pirate game.

> Idk what they were trying to do
What happened is that Phil was trying to push gamepass, and so thought that by just throwing money as studios with no support, obligation, or oversight would lead to them cranking out games instead of spending years on singular games as a more languid pace than usual.

I don't know how you can say this is a normie console with these sales numbers. If anything is normalfag central it's the Playstation 2.

I'd actually argue it's the opposite. People who were "really into gaming" had an Xbox, often in addition to the PS2. The average normalfags library back then was much the same as it is now.
>Dat Madden
>Dat Cawd
>Dat Geeteeay
>Maybe a Need for Speed or Asscreed or two if they are really feeling spicy.

But nearly every Xbox library has stuff like Panzer Dragoon Orta, Brute Force, Ninja Gaiden, and Gunvalkyrie in it. And of course Halo. And multiplatform games were better there barring a few outliers like Silent Hill 2.

How many people hooked up their Playstation 2 to the internet? "Xbox gay cuz pay" but how many people were taking advantage of the "free online" PS2 offered? Not many. Partly because it was shit and partly because they didn't care until games media told them they need to. But the gaming enthusiasts over on Xbox certainly did.

Steel battallion is a phenomenal game.
Jet set radio future is great
Panzer dragoon orta is great.
Multi platforms are better, for example metal arms.
Splinter cell looks phenomenal.
Ninja gaiden is great.
Otogi is weird.
Mech assault is great.
Breakdown is something.
Kung fu chaos was very fun.
You also got the ridik game, the oddworld games.
It was a great console.

You are correct.
But the post-iPhone release era normalfags don't remember what kind of butt of a joke Xbox was for decades. And now the marketing teams have normalized ALL of the Xbox's cancers, such as always-online slop and subscription based MP.

Ps2 exclusives are great but multiplatforms and shooters are miserable. O dare you to play kill zone 1 again.

No they're usually just fine on PS2, stinkers exist on every console. Gamecube had Geist and Xbox has Chicago Enforcer. This does not erase good games.

I fuking miss the og xbox gamecube ps2 era. During that time anything could be a videogame, all those games are absolutely unique and innovative. Just compare the catalog with the anemic one we have now outside of PC

Yeah, it had exclusives and ran third party games MUCH better than the Playstation 3, here's a video showing an example of the game Bayonetta

Let me insist.
Steel battalion is fucking great if you are in to mecha. Not worth the current price tag and it's a tragedy the performance is not great in emulator.
But here me out this game is not a gimmick. It's a really great game.

This thing was revolutionary for its time. Integrated HDD, multiplayer that was leagues ahead of any other console, and you could even rip your CDs on it. Halo might have been it's claim to fame, but it genuinely made the PS2 look like a toy.
Anonymous No.725127726 [Report]
reminder for all of you who weren't alive or were kids who like to come here and argue about shit they don't know about: the Wikipedia list of exclusives is small because it doesn't include things that got ported to other systems or PC later. there were a FUCK LOAD of games you had to play on Xbox when it was around. Ninja Gaiden, Fable, Chronicles of Riddick, KOTOR, Psychonauts, all kinds of sick fucking games were Xbox exclusive for a good while. t. person who was actually alive for good video games unlike literally everyone else left using this piece of shit fucking website.

Xbox also had the (by far) best version of Splinter Cell Chaos Theory
