Some do it just because the game itself isn't giving them the dopamine hit they expected. Others do it because they crave the attention, even if it's negative. By dragging the game down for everyone else, they can share their disappointment and connect with others in at least some way.

The best way to shut it down is to simply isolate them and refuse to play games with them. Talk to people you enjoyed playing with, form your own gated communities, expel those who don't fit. Take control of your matchmaking for the allied side, don't rely on the public pool of players to fill your ranks.

In short, be social, be selective.

the thing about hots that's really fucked up is that it's a team game skewered towards its worst player. in lol, your team is roughly as strong as the sum of its parts. in dota, your team is skewered towards the best player and one cracked out enough player can carry the shit out of most teams.

but that's not how it is in hots. the game is so objective oriented and you share your resources so whichever team has the biggest retard on it will almost always lose. you shouldn't play hots unless you have the skin to just get over unwinnable games because it is inevitable that you will lose games that're going perfectly well to one dumb fuck

It was a damn fun time, for sure. The forums are how I found out about 4chan in the first place around 2004 or so.
I sometimes browse around youtube and other places for 'trolling' or 'griefing' videos, but that shit is so milquetoast nowadays and centers more around the 'troll' as a 'creative' than the reactions. I mean, speedhacking around cs_italy while blasting Jimmy Soul's 'If You Wanna Be Happy' isn't exactly high effort either, but the reactions were way more entertaining. And nobody cared about their individual reputation or 'brand'.
With people streaming 24/7 it might actually be kinda fun again, but this whole matchmaking bullshit in newer multiplayer games kinda fucks with that as well.
The Frank stuff is kinda weird to me. I think it's damn funny but on the other hand RL shit is where you actually can't 'Just Walk Away From The Screen Like Nigga Close Your Eyes' type of business. But I still laughed my ass off, for sure.

Yeah. When I first ran a cs pub server, I remember getting supermely ASSMAD, more butthurt than that one guy they made fun of in those series of flashes, that they were ruining the experience for others. Then I realized that it was only me getting shitter shattered about it and that let me get over my unwarranted self importance. At worst I'd just temp ban them and be done with it; they were blatantly obvious with their spinbots and never really hid who they were. Five second interaction, zero effort.

I can't remember what mod it was called but my server made you download it and with a server command I could open your CD-player or flood your PC with 1kb sized pictures until it fills your HD. Not sure which myg0t member I did it to but he came back and laughs were had.
