I've actually been meaning to. Are there any good new lands mods and a decent alternate start? Everytime I think about playing F4 I think about the intro and the retarded story and decide not to.

I've been waiting for a few refinements since my last run. How are the NPC animation mods now? My one lingering gripe with modded NV is that the jank enemy movement still hinders enjoyable gunplay to an insane degree. By that I mean the way they jitter 5 body lengths to one side in a split second with no animation.

if you want a vanilla+ playthrough you have two options
you can install everything in VNV manually, which is a pain and takes a long time https://vivanewvegas.moddinglinked.com/intro.html
or you can just use wabbajack to automatically install everything, but that requires shelling out for a monthly nexusmods sub (you can immediately cancel it but you still have to pay for that month, and if you want to download another list later you have to pay again)
technically you can use wabbajack without a nexusmods subscription but it's really annoying since you have to manually confirm every download

Just beat DMT (Dead Money Tweaks). It is a really good mod that gives a lot more substance to the DLC. Its a shame that you get way too many resources which kinda throws out the whole survival horror shit the author was trying to do out the window and made me hideously overpowered when I got back to the mojave. Ghost people also still aren't threatening at all because their attack anims are so janky that they could barely even hit me at all most of the time. Also it really falls off at the end when you enter the villa.

I did but why the fuck would you turn it a milsim autism simular when it's very clear that the game wasn't designed for that (for example you can't wallbang people inside buildings because buildings are seperate world spaces)? Yeah I remember this being out the last time I played but I think some performance bug kept me away at the time. Something to do with a live gibbing mod destroying framerate in some interior cells? Can't remember now. Still, as long as they no longer jitter and slide a mile horizontally without animation or notice, I think its time to make my ultimate shooter overhaul.

Wish I could, but I can still see the jankiness in that gunplay even through the mods. It just feels off, I don't know exactly how to put it, but it'll always have that very odd quality to it no matter how much you try to mod it. It's definitely serviceable but man sometimes the age in a game really puts me off when I come back to it years later. I did my playthroughs out of enjoyment of the story but I'll probably never play it again. Glad you're having fun, here's to hoping we can get Fallout 5 within our lifetime and it not be a shit game.

I have NV installed and fully modded but I'd rather play Fallout 4. It's a great game, but it really lacks replayability once you've passed a certain point.

I’m slowly fixing my mod list since I had a crash happening every 30 mins, but so far I haven’t had any but still testing. What are some good Vegas overhauls that are still compatible with AWO(less)P and More Mojave (dark side edition)? I’ve seen the new Revised Mojave but I’m not sure if it’s compatible with the above mods. Is VICE worth it?

Yup, I could play with 100 mods for hours on end on my G73Sw Win 7 system (14 years old now), but on my i7 14700F GeForce RTX 4060TI with NVMe I can't seem to enjoy the game for more than 10 minutes before something bad happens.

It's not free, it eats away at the VATS gauge over time and every shot does too. How much depends on your perks and skills. Mods that add recoil and replace all hitscan with proper bullets further increase difficulty.

It's been years since I looked up NV mods, usually I keep it minimally modded outside minor visual tweaking and some skimpy stuff.

I don't recall if the one I had used decreased per shot which is fair enough and I knew that it drained agility otherwise.
I do have recoil mods unsure about proper ballistics though.

In my experience vats is only good for tapping it to aimbot your gun at the thing you're trying to shoot and then exiting out without actually using the damn thing. When I did it I decided to make a build like it was Fallout 1 so I got Plasma Spazz and the Plasma Caster but I think theres a nice variety if you look, I think a pistol build with Lil' Devil was pretty good?

Every mod that tries to fix charisma either increases your companion limit which just makes the game unplayable or adds a bunch of arbitrary charisma checks in dialogue in place of speech checks, or worse it just nerfs charisma so you have to waste a bunch of special points to make the skill usable.
Perception has always been nothing more than a perk tax and I don't think I've ever seen anyone try to make do fucking anything at all.

For me New Vegas has the same problem as Elden Ring where the first chunk of this game is this fun adventure to this grand site of major narrative importance, you spend some time there and it's fantastic, but then it goes "Okay, time to leave and go do something else in the worst part of the map" and I just don't want to. I dislike the focus on the NCR and Legion. The Drama going on between House, Benny, and the other Families is WAY more interesting.

I see why they nuked Legion and NCR in Lonesome Road. Factions getting to developed really fucks things up. Local disputes with potential big consequences is more engaging. The "Post-Post Apocalypse" fags fuck everything up. I'm here to help small settlements, kill Deathclaws and explore ancient Vaults, not get a philosophy lessons from a geriatric fag with brain cancer
