Serves a purpose, though. There's basically 4 levels of performance when it comes to retro handhelds, and the matching price points.
Broadly speaking, there's
1. Up to PS1, with light N64, Dreamcast, and PSP (TrimUI Smart Pro)
2. N64/Dreamcast/PSP, with light Saturn and Gamecube (Retroid Pocket 2S)
3. Gamecube and PS2, with light Switch and WiiU (Anbernic RG476H)
4. Upscaled Gamecube and PS2, most Switch and WiiU games (Konkr Pocket Fit)
There's a fair few options all around, except at that second level of power. Pocket 2S was it for a minute and even that's been discontinued for quite a while. Now we have the Pocket Air Mini and the Mangmi Air X, and people have been excited for both, especially at the price. It's good for people to be making noise over that, signals to everyone that there's demand, and thus money to be made. So now maybe other companies will throw their hat in the ring and feed that under-served market. I'm looking at you, Anbernic, I know you can have 12 different models out by Summer if you want to.
