They're smart, like miniature dogs. They can show love, if you're bonded they will want to be with you. They're super cute and bigger than mice so there's more to love

They're incredibly intelligent for their size, and similar to dogs they are capable of learning tricks and showing affection. Despite their reputation, they are also very clean animals.
The main downside is they have depressingly short lifespans of only 3-4 years, maybe 1 or 2 years longer if they're very healthy. They're little heartbreakers; just as you're getting attached to them, they die.

>But don’t Rats carry diseases?
Any wild animal can carry diseases. Including cats, dogs, and even humans. It's not like you'd pick up a wild cat and call it a pet. You don't know what the fuck it's carrying.
Get two (NOT just one - they need rat companions or will die from depression) from a professional breeder. Guaranteed to be healthy, domestic, and disease-free.

>Don't they shit a lot everywhere?
So do dogs.
Rats can be trained to go in a certain spot just like most mammals.
However, male rats specifically do leave little droplets of urine everywhere they go. It's an instinctive thing that they do to mark their territory. It's barely noticeable, but if you still find it a problem then get females as they don't do this.

Note that rats outnumber us 1000 to 1. If there were a war, they would win.

Think our tanks and fortresses would protect us? Not a chance they'd go through the smallest crack, or if there isn't one they would quickly make one.

Good luck shooting guns at a literal storm of small creatures coming at you like a tsunami.

"Ah, but we have nukes" you say. Yeah good fucking luck with that, you'd take out a few million in the blast zones but the remainder would just go underground where most their literal resources to survive are and they'd just wait it out, then come out in even greater numbers an kill what we didn't.do to ourselves.

Never had one but supposedly intelligence. They're very trainable, and can show loyalty that matches a dog's, providing they're treated well.

Personally that's why I would never have one. When my dog goes I will be fucking heartbroken, as if I've lost a child. I don't think I could manage that with a living thing that barely lives 2 years on average.
