Types of Millenial Gamers
I've noticed most of them 90% of Millenial gamers fall in to these 3 categories:

>Group A Millenial gamers: Grew up on classic PC games like Quake, UT, C&C etc. Usually pretty chill, uninterested in new games.

>Group B Millenial gamers: Grew up on 6~7th gen consoles. Likes "Dudebro" games such as Halo, CoD MW, Battlefield. Hates and complains all the time about new AAA games but keeps buying them for some reason. "Gamer" personality, loves to brag and trashtalk. Very present online.

>Group C Millenial gamers: The "Millenial". Defends latest AAA slop on social media to own the toxic Chuds, quirky reddit sense of humour. Plays indie games like Outer Wilds, Rain World and To the Moon(if PC), walking simulators like the Last of Us and GoW 2018(if Playstation) or Bing Bing Wahoo on Nintendo Switch. Hated online.

What do you think?

Can someone explain borderlands to me? I played borderlands 2 and it was honestly one of the worst fps games I ever played. What's the appeal?

The appeal is that the looter shooter genre didn't exist before before so adding items with random rolls to an fps that played somewhat like Halo was revolutionary. Before that the only relevant game in the genre was pretty much Diablo 2 outside of MMOs. Nowadays it's so overdone, of course you don't see anything special in it today.

I guess it's something like that. I played it after destiny and everything in borderlands was worse. Worse gameplay, worse loot, worse graphics, terrible dialogue and story. But this doesn't explain why it still exists today. Borderlands 4 looks like borderlands 2 except it runs like shit now, who is this for?

I find myself falling into the A and B groups because I lived through those times. They were good times, and my memories of them only make me even more jaded with the current state of the industry being so lame and gay on purpose. Even the newest games I play I try to find ones that are more similar to games from 2 decades ago then ones that have most of the "modern" sensibilities in both design and aesthetics.

I would like to add that the idea of a "looter shooter" sort of accidentally came about in a perspective shift that was possible in the now defunct game Hellgate:London. If you played as the hunter or the wizardy classes you could choose to have a first person mode. It didn't actually do anything helpful, but it was neat...and it gave the idea of making an ARPG that was entirely in the first person to other studios, Gearbox being one of them.

>Can someone explain borderlands to me?
looty shooty was a new concept. hellgate london did it before borderlands but that game flopped hard because the devs couldn't make up their mind about making it a pay per monthly mmo or not.

Destiny has better gunplay for sure, it's not even a comparison. What Borderlands always had over Destiny was that it wasn't a live service game, so there was no FOMO, no dailies, no limited content, no crap that demanded you to treat the game like your job unless you wanted to feel you were missing out on crap. You could always play in your own pace. This is something that Destiny couldn't ever compensate for.

i guess most of us are a mix of A and B. I grew up on old school PC games and gen 6-7, but now most of the games i look forward to playing are rereleases of older games
There is occasional greatness coming out (huge fag for Octopath games for example), but none of the AAA slop interests me

I wanted to like them because weird infinite ammo alien guns, but they might as well tickle the enemy and/or take forever to recharge. At least 2 has some E-tech guns which are useful (the Vladof Eridian snipers which shoot ricocheting energy beams are cool and so are Plasma Casters (E-tech SMGs).

The E-Tech weapons ironically became worse as the years went on. Gearbox accidentally made a lot of weapons incredibly shit when Ultimate Vaulthunter mode, and later OP levels, released. Suddenly you had to slag things to do normal damage again, and all the E-Tech guns were horribly ammo inefficient while also doing bad damage. A handful were useful as slag delivery systems but even then you were probably better off using a legendary Maliwan slag sniper or a Rubi or that smg that also has a chance to slag you because 4X the projectiles slags basically anything.

Friendly reminder, that "Unofficial Patch" and "Map Improvements" mods (by the same author) exist for the original Borderlands. First fixes a lot of bugs including but not limited to broken classmods, wrong prefixes etc, second one fixes a lot of respawns (King Wee notably) and various minor map problems. Both are best to be installed in tandem. There might be multiplayer problems, so read manuals and proceed with care. Available on nexus and author's github.

There is no standard taxonomy of generational cohorts. Millennials are one of the worst generations in all of human history, thoughever.

The first BL is a competent game in a fun setting. The writing was not anywhere close to the level of unbearable that BL2 managed, and was just Mad Max in space. Gameplay loop of doing missions, exploring and finding stronger gear is fun enough.
Play the first game, see if it feels any different.

Anonymous No.725186506 [Report] >>725187020

The lack of enemy variety hurts it a lot because BL1 is very experimental. You don't really get that many interesting interactions with most enemies as it's usually just melee enemy, shooty enemy, bigger elite version of both. So when BL2 came out and you have sub enemy types like the Nomads who could spawn with or without shields, and those shields could have midgets attached to them meant a single enemy type had more interesting ways to engage with it than most enemies in BL1 ever had. The itemization was....okay, at the start. Then Gearbox fucked it by accident with the level boosts.

>>725186506
Yeah, you can really feel how barebones the first game is after playing BL2. BL2 completely dropped the ball in terms of atmosphere, though: turned the series into a goofy theme park.
