I think they're trying to avoid this by delaying it as much as possible, and whether or not this happens depends on if they can get this out before or after age verification. I wouldn't be surprised if they get it out, and then age verification happens two or three months later, but they did something to cash in enough in those 2 - 3 months it doesn't matter. Also most of their advertising campaign is probably bots, which is what their expenses are.

One of the most famous dev quotes of all time is pic-related. Miyamoto never actually said it but it's been spread around for decades to justify game delays.

Plus look at a game such as Cyberpunk 2077. Even with the ability to fix things up with patches it was a buggy mess on release that tanked the company's stocks and people's perception of the game.

I'm looking forward to it but I'm probably correctly assuming it'll run like absolute dogshit on consoles and PCs because these delays usually mean the game is a shitshow and runs at like 20fps on PS5 Pro.
I'll have to wait for either PS6, or the RTX 70xx series of GPUs before I can play it properly.
