not really, that's more the result of corpos trying to one up each other and also trying to turn the videogame industry into another hollywood of sorts. it's the same with music, rap culture wasn't a thing, it was artificially injected and astroturfed to promote promiscuity and glorify crime as an accelerationist tactic to sow chaos, they've done it before, that's the natural cycle of civilization, they do it to ride the wave so to speak, but I digress, take the marketing and the astroturfing away and consumers will naturally gravitate towards quality over quantity over time, that is to say, take the marketing scheme away and we would not have slop and rap music
