Two reasons. In a flashback he sustains multiple lethal gunshot wounds and Herr Doctor has to save him. Secondly they are WW2 survivors into the present day. Most of the others are either vampires/were-creatures but The Major extended his lifespan via human technology. Ironically the only other person shown use tech rather than magic is Anderson who has a limited regeneration from experiments done by the church.
