I didn't even notice anything like that. If I wanted DRM-free games, I downloaded them for free from GoG—they're free to download online. But I prefer Steam because I have friends, cloud saves, cloud screenshots, and very cheap games all in one place. I only buy games from keyshops for 10-20% of the price of the GoG and Steam stores.

I stopped taking physicalfags seriously when I realized they don't want true ownership of their games; they simply want to be able to give the games they paid $50-$70 for to Gamestop in exchange for a few cents.

Can't think of a time that they've lied in their terms of service, a legally binding contract. Closest example you could give me was the Australian refund lawsuits in which their ToS contradicted Australian law, the response gave us the current refund system we have now.

You have only ever bought a license unless you have literally made the game yourself. I own my games on Steam far, far more than I do any of the console games I bought. Physical is a hard cope for stupid people and/or for autistic collectors who just want to see plastic on their shelf.
If you can't freely access, modify, transfer, or copy files, you do not even remotely own the game.

but do they require me to login on the second device?

im under the assumption that if you buy a game on GoG, you have control over the files. you can throw it on any system and run the EXE without an internet connection or login.
And that steam being more locked down and child proofed with auto updates and login restrictions. Where you might not be able to load your game on a second computer.

You don't officially "own" games on any of these, not even on GoG. On consoles you don't even own the hardware (but who the fuck cares about consoles anyway). GoG just can't stop you if you already downloaded the games. Steam also has games with no DRM, you can just launch those without the client. There's also itch, zoom (they are the only ones with the good Duke 3D version) and some porn games publishers have their own DRM free sites.

According to the law, yes. In reality, enforcing that is near impossible. But lack of ability to enforce doesn't change anything. Valve can't take away games I Goldberg and move out of the Steam tree. That doesn't mean circumventing copy protection is somehow legal because they can't enforce it.

Why can't anyone make a service that competes with Steam? Steam is just a small company, it should be pretty easy.

Yes. Steamies and digital only cucks in general own NOTHING. PhysicalGODS will inherit the earth. And before you say "b-but everything is moving towards digital" that's exactly when I'll pirate everything. Seethe and cope, I will not be purchasing nothing.

>You very much are the full and proper owner of the physical game copy you own
Same goes for digital copies but if you buy a license on storefronts like Steam you can install and play your game on multiple pc's simultaneously which is something you can't do with a physical copy.

You don't actually own anything, the state does, since they have the power to strip you of your access to all your property if you commit a "crime" which is defined only by them.

Yeah, true. When EGS was just starting up they outright said they're not gonna even bother competing with Steam's features when they can just buy exclusivity.
All the disdain towards their store is well earned.

Are you talking about legality or in practice? Because legally it's none of them, not even GOG, but in practice you can play a lot of Steam and EGS games without the launcher once you've downloaded them, so you could argue that you can own some games on those platforms.

>Why can't anyone make a service that competes with Steam?
because
>the more games on a platform, the harder it is to compete
>network effects. having everything in one place is convenient
>NO ONE wants to have storefront launchers or accounts, let alone two. fragmentation kills markets (see jewish TV companies screeching about the resurgence of piracy after they decided to split shows among parajew, yidsney, hulu, nigflix, crapple tv, amajew grime, etc.)
>steam offers things publishers absolutely hate with a passion (e.g. reviews that publishers can't delete nilly-willy, discussion forums so people can mention glitches and bugs and solutions, considerable discounts)
>worldwide reach. it's extremely hard to launch a global company thanks to jewish regulations (e.g. germoney's cucked guvmint are cunts that will fine you if you have unrated games, plus they ban shit nilly-willy all the time. not to mention all the policing conducted by racist hate groups like the ADL)
