Bethesda's take on how people would realistically build armor during the apocalypse or after nuclear fallout. There is also the "toilet" armor. I guess they didn't want it to look too stylized and traditional armor looking.

You could probably make this at home, and I don't know what it would protect you from. You have a lot of exposed areas, though some protection is better than known. Your groin is still exposed, but it's covering most vital areas.

Looks like if a Transformer took the form of a toilet

some of the synth/combat armor looked like dogshit but if you were willing to use metal/leather on the vault suit like the game tries to pigeonhole you into doing by putting it on all the leveled enemies then it looked good

I like the idea of synth armor looking weird and different, since it's designed to protect Gen I and II Synths who don't have human anatomy and their vulnerable spots are different from those of a human, the execution could've been better.
