I watched a trailer and there is some kind of crystal substance that takes over people? Why can't sci fi ever be original. I miss the 50s and 60s.

This sounds mid as fuck. Fitting for a mid as fuck sci-fi series I guess

I'm not checking any promotional material, news or threads about it. I'll leave this thread after I post this, just wanted to say that I'll hang every single fucking belter I run across unless they are a very hot girl, in which case I will put a baby in her before I kill her family.

Earth must come first.

Just let this stale 20 years old fad die already.
Anonymous No.725200357 [Report]
Not really. Expanse is just generic slop where you read about how someone floats in heccin epic zero gravity to the Shidfard chamber to replace the Dingus core in the Skibidi Engine with a Naggerfuck Wrench and it's all so friggin FUTURISTIC

It is original though. You barely know anything about the plot. And crystals exist for real. Most particles in the universe tend to form together in crystalline lattices. The crystals jutting from people is just a symptom of what's happening. The Expanse is the best new scifi in the past couple decades.

I'm hyped. I hate that they had the chance to make Belters look book accurate but went with the show depiction instead. It's a key point of why Belters even act the way that they do.

Near future scifi where humans have colonized most of the solar system. Mars, the asteroid belt, the Jovian Moons, with space stations scattered all about. There is not FTL travel, but they have an extremely efficient engine tech that allows them to fly faster than real tech. Earth is way overpopulated like 40 billion people, so people can't get jobs and live off the dole. Mars is trying to terraform the planet to be green and breathable. Mars is independent from Earth and there is a cold war between them. Both of them shit on people living in the asteroid belt and treat them like disposable slaves. Aside from the engines, there's not too much scifi devices, so everyone lives in low gravity and deals with high acceleration forces when flying in ships. The people in the belt have fundamentally changed bodies due to always being in low/zero gravity plus always living in confined metal boxes. There's almost nowhere else to explore in the solar system, so humans are finally building a ship to go to the nearest star, but it'll take generations to get there. When chaos erupts, ships start going missing or blowing up, tensions start boiling over and causing chaos/riots/murder, and the protagonists discover a web of secrets, conspiracies, and a potentially alien technology that everyone wants to get control of

Still no gameplay yet right? Like there's just that little clip with the cinematic that just shows shooting in cover? I need to see the skills/builds/gun variety before any hype. There's a lot that can go wrong but I'm willing to give OwlCat the benefit of a doubt.

>mobile game monster
When our local vidya industry died back at the end of the 00s, a lot of devs (and thus artists) moved to mobile shit to make ends meet. I imagine that style is still not out of the system yet.

Yes, there are nine books plus novellas. They finish the story and have a decent conclusion. There's a time jump after the last season, so they could potentially pick the show back up with older actors.

2E wasn't really received well and it also made some changes that means you can't just re-use existing tools. Like alignments being altogether gone, for example.

Starfinder 2e has all the exact same issues though (since it's pretty much PF2e IN SPACE), and is also a more recent system.

It's sort of three different trilogies. People didn't like the second trilogy as much since it sort of slows down to explore the aftermath of the first trilogy, then goes in an unexpected direction. But it's very much setting the stage for the final trilogy which picks back up leading into a good finale

Oh it was the last season that went off the deep end? Not the previous season which was essentially part 1 of 2 of Dominic Tipper's menstrual gasping and moaning and petulant crying? Nor the one before that, which was a melodramatic survivor with sci-fi elements and a cringeworthy attempt at current year parallels?

Your right, the last two seasons when it went down the deep end.
The woman playing naomi was such a big miscast.
The dude playing holden was bad too at the start but at least he improved over the seasons.
The bitch playing naomi became even worse.
