Near future scifi where humans have colonized most of the solar system. Mars, the asteroid belt, the Jovian Moons, with space stations scattered all about. There is not FTL travel, but they have an extremely efficient engine tech that allows them to fly faster than real tech. Earth is way overpopulated like 40 billion people, so people can't get jobs and live off the dole. Mars is trying to terraform the planet to be green and breathable. Mars is independent from Earth and there is a cold war between them. Both of them shit on people living in the asteroid belt and treat them like disposable slaves. Aside from the engines, there's not too much scifi devices, so everyone lives in low gravity and deals with high acceleration forces when flying in ships. The people in the belt have fundamentally changed bodies due to always being in low/zero gravity plus always living in confined metal boxes. There's almost nowhere else to explore in the solar system, so humans are finally building a ship to go to the nearest star, but it'll take generations to get there. When chaos erupts, ships start going missing or blowing up, tensions start boiling over and causing chaos/riots/murder, and the protagonists discover a web of secrets, conspiracies, and a potentially alien technology that everyone wants to get control of
