Single player is perfectly fine, if anything it encapsulates the STALKER experience of shitting your pants alone while things scream at you down the bunker halls. The game is also way more punishing than STALKER simply because death makes you drop everything, and because emissions occur every few hours you're at risk of losing all the good shit you had on hand if you can't make it back fast enough. Misery is not even a real competitor though. The only games that compete with STALKER is the unreleased Argentine game and Project Silverfish. If we're charitable Road to Vostok comes close to in specific ways of being as hardcore, but not actually a stalker like.
