The era of jank games is over.
Back in the day you'd get games like STALKER, Witcher series and VTMB and they'd be absolute cancer to actually play usually but the atmosphere and setting was unbelievably good, so you'd forgive it it's sins.
Now every game that comes out looks great, but is a polished turd. They could have the best gameplay ever but they're some UE5 slop hyperrealism without a single fuck given about atmosphere or the setting.
I don't want to see every fucking pore on some dudes face, I want to look at a low poly slavic woodland swamp and feel spooked.

EA, world settings can be customized to anywhere from a permadeath world w/ no respawning loot, no saves outside of safe zone, spawning your guy as Military running missions against insurgents/freelancers or you can go full casual save Lone Wolf with checkpoints upon cell entry and respawning loot, multiple lives, etc.

Only shitty thing is no FPVmodels for the guns and no customization if that's your thing, but as a result the dev uses the saved time to implement more weapons and features. Also against customization because he wants players to use other weapons instead of sticking to a favorite.

Having played a little bit now I can say that the furry elements are pretty light. There's 1 pride flag and pronouns that never get used again in the character creator. Outside of the character creator and the majority of intelligent sapient life most of the creatures/humanoids you are fighting are the remnants of humanity that have been twisted by some weird anomaly. I have seen more up close human zombie children and ad-playing husks than I have hostile lizard people.

>Apparently fixed multiple memory leak crashes
>"Player's flashlight now casts shadows on objects" (this is real)
>Added the advanced ability for human enemies to actually take cover during shootouts
And don't even get me started on the endless balancing of weapon durability, ammo types, and bullet penetration. It's fucking insane that the game is 6 major patches in and it's still adding important features that should have been in there at the start. If you played the game at launch, you undeniably had a garbage fucking experience. I have to keep telling people that they should LEGITIMATELY wait for multiple years before finally playing Stalker 2.

I understand the game eventually had to come out so they can just get the fucking thing released and work on it from there but JESUS CHRIST.

there are very much mutants. I have so far run into weird little children in gas masks that kind of act like the pack enemies from dead space, the little kids that try to swarm you. When I was outside last night the entire area was suddenly bathed in pitch black fog where you couldn't seem more than a couple of feet in front of you and this weird angel thing came flying at me.. I was exploring the other night and there was 3 flying orbs in the sky that hurt whenever I looked at them but they kept coming back to stalk me and hover over me. Worst thing I've run in to was this weird deer skull-headed slender looking fuckerthat could super jump and scared the shit out of me. Watched it maul a group of Insurrection from across a pond and then it suddenly bolted at me at like mach 3, wasted 2 grenades and all my 30-06 fmj taking it down (this was after this fireteam of 3 had been shooting at it).

the humans that are left in this world are twisted zombie husk guys that have these weird mechanical contraptions fused with them and a ramshackle look.. when they come running at you they're playing ads and the one with the little girl cackling/giggling when it's pitch black at night or exploring an interior always makes me jump like a retard but it is SO loud and sudden.

this is nice filler after the first game, I haven't bothered picking up the second because I'm too afraid and I've heard mixed things but if I can get through this I might consider it. My second character because my first died and got super fucked with my traits because I had no clue what I was doing at creation, decent play area and the military bases are fun to sneak around and raid equipment from. I hate that I love horror games because I am the first person to drop the controller or pause and quit to the home screen.

It released. I played it for about 150 hours. Was surprised to see just how much work was put into the story this time around, especially the presentation, cutscenes was on the level of Cyberpunk and Dying Light. So much stuff uncovered and so much potential new stories after the endings. I was disappointed in the A-Life, or lack off, I could go in the wilderness for hours without seeing or hearing anyone, but whenever I crossed an invisible line into a town or POI, there would be an audible clunk as the game spawned random enemies. Somewhat countered by the guns looking good and being fun to shoot. Had endless amount of abandoned industrial complex to explore.

NTA but I honestly regret buying this game because You could genuinely get a better experience from tweaking a CoC/anomaly/gamma playthrough than dropping 30 bucks on this early access title.
I put a bunch of hours into 1 playthrough that finished all the content there was and even a few months later there hasn't been any meaningful updates to warrant another playthrough.
Also even after I got use to them the furries are still off putting lol.

I was going to say it is giving me gamma vibes (nowhere near as hardcore). I idled all my cards on my account and sold them, used some of the leftover cash from Borderlands 4 to pick this up and ended up paying $5+tax so I can't say I am not getting my money's worth but it does feel a little bare. I am however limiting myself and not going too deep into The Zone. I don't even have the equipment to actually assault or fight through a military checkpoint at this point. Updates do seem slim looking at the store page but the guy is pretty active on his game's Discord, right now he's pretty active on there. I noticed earlier that this game seems to work with UEVR so it might be decent playing a little STALKER VR but I feel I'd piss myself doing that.
