There are some games that I find so stupid, just so incredibly stupid.
I'm playing Nier Automata. I'm controlling Pascal, who's on a giant robot. The problem is, they don't explain how to control the robot. I lost the fight, game over. An hour wasted because I hadn't saved at the factory. What a crappy game, honestly.
I'm so fucking mad.

Starting playing this yesterday too. Hadn't seen any gameplay footage all these years and I see why.
I'm into the story so far but the gameplay is so underwhelming this story must do some heavy lifting later on.

Brother use context clues. It's not they're going suddenly make attack the start button and jump L3. Or if on keyboard then have it shifted to the right numpad. Do you have to be told before you start pressing buttons?

Literally everything in this fucking game has the exact same control scheme. Literally everything. Left stick moves. Right stick aims if there's a ranged weapon that doesn't have a locked firing angle. The light and heavy melee buttons melee and the shoot button shoots. That's why the game can constantly change camera angles and modes, because every single mode uses the same controls to do the exact same things.

How did you lose that fight? Did you just fucking stand there going 'hurr durr the melee buttons have been melee this entire game but that knowledge has left my brain so I will stand and do nothing now' or some shit?

anon half the shit in the game works specifically because the control scheme is universal.
your attack button still attacks, your movement buttons still move, and that fight is piss easy.
there are actual perfectly reasonable criticisms you can make against automata but this is not one of them.

There are people this bad at videogames and they're the ones calling your favourite games shit. At this point I just consistently do the opposite of what /v/ says because chances are they're a <90 IQ third worlder that can't even figure out simple button presses.
