My adopted sister is a literal 85 IQ retard with ADHD. She struggles with a lot of games because she can't be fucked to sit around to learn the systems and absorb the story and wait through cutscence.
She fucking LOVES Tsushima. There's ADD shit everywhere you ride and it requires no preparation and there's minimal variety.
Finding games she'll play is a challenge and I've come to understand that modern game design is making games that retards like her can approach and appreciate.
Tsushima has a richer tapestry of story going on. Just more density in a way.
Yotei simplifies a lot of systems, organizes the story in a cleaner, minimalist way.
It does a good job with this though, backing off from pure open world to managed pseudo-linear open world
Yotei is sort of slightly more repetitive in some ways than Tsushima, but wins out through its vastness and excellence.
What makes Yotei GOAT in some ways is the excellence in design and execution. There is no better polished game. It might have a kind of shallowness at times, but not a ruinous shallowness.
It's smooth, zero jank, approachable, has just enough interesting depth (a bit banham-ish but cool samurai stuff). It's the better version of Assassin's Creed.
The world is absolutely beautiful, and I've been to Hokkaido many times.
Yotei is truly somewhat plebian. But it's one of the most excellent, polished successes of a development ever accomplished. It makes up for its plebian simplicity with character, sufficient depth, and beauty.
I've seen Atsu's ass enough times that I would. Oyuki unironically looks like my exgirlfriend until I realized she looks EXACTLY like my exgirlfriend's younger sister who is similar in looks but hotter.
