Why is /v/ full of shitters?
I saw a thread where someone claim it's impossible to get 50%+ winrates in multiplayer FPS games because everyone is cheating, and that every top level player is using cheats. Maybe there are some cheaters, but it you've actually played shooters you'd realise it's fairly easy to get to the top 10% ELO if you play consistently, because map knowledge and positioning is more important than aim.

Same with fighting games, where /v/ is convinced everyone spends hundreds of hours labbing combos after getting destroyed by a noob, or the constant seething about SBMM, or complaining Dark Souls is "artificial difficulty" when it's actually a fairly easy game-you'd know this if you've played classic NES games like Megaman.

Why does /v/ suck at games despite claiming to be hardcore gamers?

SBMM isn't real. Its true for is Engagement Based MM, designed to give you shitters if you're on a winstreak.

I've never claimed to be a hardcore gamer, i'm autistic enough as is without doubling down.

The problem with skill based matchmaking is that it doesn't measure soft skills. At best it can look at your winrate, points, hits per shot, K/D, various other statistics, and soft skills can help boost those indirectly at times, but ultimately it is a poor judge for context. Cheats would also be part of that context, did your winrate get boosted by the cheater or was it negatively influenced? Does it even consider games involving cheaters? Does it consider teammates who have a lower skill rating than you influencing your own play if you are attempting to cooperate with them?
It's all too complicated for an automated system, so really it doesn't mean anything. Competitive ranks are a joke. It's just there to satisfy ego and keep people grinding and going nowhere.

no need for complex SBMM stuff, just matching people by their ELO and quarentining trolls, smurfs and suspected cheaters would be sufficient

Because /v/ has been flooded by normalfags since over a decade ago.

Yeah. What the fuck did we just talk about? The same criticisms apply to that system too.

it's the most logical because if you win more than you lose you will gradually go up. no "matching retards with me against pros because i was too good" like people here claim either

if you're significantly better than your peers you instantly shoot up in ELO. "i'm stuck in ELO hell because the SBMM is against me" is pure copium, especially if you're like bottom 30%

Nigga modern comp games literally have EOMM (Engaged Optimized Matchmaking) where they literally put people on winstreaks vs ppl on losing streaks so that they’ll keep playing the game. Marvel Rivals is cooked

Im usually sitting around a 65% win rate playing alone, but you will ways find me playing the objective so we win.

>Dark Souls is "artificial difficulty"
you lack the knowledge.
Souls games arent Hard, they were always knowledge tests. once you understand the fight, its manageable. there was a common set of behaviors and timings that a player could learn and get good at the game. Elden Ring is where that changed since enemies have a lot of attacks with delays, held swings, inconsistent acceleration with inconsistent parry windows, and combo spam. But once you learn that the bosses are preoccupied with their preprogrammed spam, and arent capable of responding to player input, you can spam them right back and they have no counter to it. which is weird since older dark souls games had behaviors that would allow bosses to disengage for their safety. it has become to choreographed and lost its charm. there is a point where you try to hard to make something difficult and it stops being fun.
reminds me a bit of old racing games that relied heavily on rubberbanding to counter the player. That if you were winning to much it would slingshot the other racers ahead of you at impossible speeds. the game provides a challenge that you have no reasonable counter to. then you learn the best way to win is not to be the fastest (the point of racing) but to play the game's systems against it self by stay in 2nd place until the final stretch of the race so the artificial difficulty doesnt have time to kick in and steal the win.
