Drawing for yourself and drawing for fun are the biggest things to make you stick with it and enjoy the process, it's always so sad to me to see the anons who want to draw but grind out 50000 Loomis exercises and boxes and never draw what they actually want to draw because they're not "good enough" yet, the real truth of it is that only really comes with time, so you might as well enjoy yourself along the way!

Ease yourself back into it with a fun little warmup, if you let it hang over you you'll make yourself less likely to sit down and draw something you'd be happy with, just gotta let yourself shake off the rust without stressing over it

/ic/ is, broadly speaking, a sour grapes shithole where you go if you want to stop drawing, the best advice I can give is to keep at it, your eye will very slowly get sharper over time and you'll work on addressing your own issues as they start to stick out more starkly to you. It's also important to experiment and play around with style/posing/coloring/shading etc outside of your comfort zone to help you get a better feel for things over time, though you'll have to accept that when you do the results will be "worse" than they'd be if you had just stayed exclusively in your comfort zone. Then you can put together what you learn from doing that to make your preferred style/poses/etc even better in a constant cycle of growth

I stopped drawing 15 years ago (just dropped it for a bit one day and never got back to it), and it's a big hurdle trying to reacquire the hand-eye coordination while not having lost your well-developed critical eye. Don't let yourself become me. At the very least doodle something small every now and then.

There is a solution to this, but it's going to take a very long time. Just keep drawing what you want with minimal/no references. It'll be much worse, but you'll eventually begin to see what's wrong and improve very, very gradually. But if you're having fun doing it instead of burning out, I don't think that's a bad thing. You have to, at the very least, strike a balance between the two. No life drawing without wife drawing, as they say.

I know, I've been getting back to the habit of drawing daily, I just need to find that spark to reignite my passion for it. It does become demoralizing to see my current doodles compared to my older ones and notice that there's a decline in quality and proficiency. Eventually I stop all together until I get a spark of inspiration like what's happening right now, and the cycle repeats itself. I hope I can break this pattern soon.

Keep the theory at minimum, otherwise it will kill your drive to draw. I suggest 90% practice 10% theory approach. The practice can be pretty much anything but I suggest drawing the kind of content you want to create from the start
