Yeah there are multiple private servers but the only one with a sizable community is currently down and likely will be down for a few more weeks.

Old-School TERA Online launched like two months ago but it already bled most of its playerbase because the people in charge were tryhard content farmers and not game devs so they completely failed at creating a satisfactory new player experience which caused a lot of people to quit early and now the server is doomed to die unless it somehow gets incredibly lucky with streamers picking it up which is what happened to TERA Classic.

Old-School is about as vanilla as you're going to get(original Island of Dawn, no overpowered Avatar weapons for leveling, dungeon bosses can actually kill you, BAMs are actually buffed to the point that it's a pain to kill them solo unless you're playing a class with blocking or numerous i-frames) but unfortunately as I mentioned the people in charge made some really stupid choices regarding entry-level end-game dungeons which caused a lot of people to quit shortly after the server launched.

Yes but this was toward the tail end of TERA's life and it was done in a very lazy way. Elin animations were fucked for the later classes when they were added for them.
