Just started Twilight Princess (HD version) today since now's the perfect time of year to play it. I tried playing the Wii version a decade ago but never got past the opening (people weren't kidding when they say it drags on). Turns out my dumb ass dropped the game literally the second before Midna shows up, so while I haven't made it that much further yet this time around, I'm already super invested because of her.

Ganondorf kills everyone over the course of that last part. So since saria has to die anyways, I still feel her getting it off screen is the best way. I did think that was a bit too dark though, even though the surprise ending is that it depicts the fallen timeline split. So I came up with the idea of including a chapter right before that final one.

Honestly, I always thought it was kinda wild that Zelda crammed an entire Sheikah training arc into those seven years. Like, she goes from castle princess to shadow clone no jutsu in record time, while Link's out there playing time accordion with a bunch of masks and hookshots. The series has been on land for far, FAR too long. What kind of fucked up world has both Zora's Domain and the goddamn Water Temple be big stone constructs entirely above water? Why did we go back to the sky only for it to make the exact same mistakes as Skyward Sword AGAIN? Why is BOTK Link such a slave to the stamina wheel that he can actually slip under and drown? Why is this the only way to make him even KINDA go underwater?
It's about time Nintendo lets us set sail once more. Then we'll see the true power of Open Air...y'know, for better or worse.

I replayed Wind Waker this year and it was depressing. Greatfish Isle having bits of destroyed structures strewn around the place hurts so much more with the knowledge that it was going to be the third pearl dungeon. The entire first half is so heavily railroaded that I developed an appreciation for the Triforce quest just because I could finally sail wherever I wanted on the giant open sea. Medli's dialogue being so much more mature when you recruit her as the Earth Sage just makes me think of the fact that the game was supposed to take place over the span of years, over which everyone would've visibly grown up. And then there's the matter of Sunken Hyrule, the second map that never was.
With no malice behind this statement, Wind Waker is not a finished game, and it's half-baked to the point that it actively detracts from the game as a whole. And since it was my first Zelda, this makes me sad, because all I feel when playing it now is a sense of "it didn't need to be like this."
But to end this post on a positive note, the Triforce quest is actually much better if you break it up between the second half's dungeons. After the second Forsaken Fortress visit, I started randomly sailing around and filling in the map just to do it and ended up picking up a couple Triforce charts. I did the same thing after the Earth Temple, and by the time I cleared the Wind Temple, there was only one or two charts I had left to collect. I recommend this approach over waiting to do the entire thing after the Wind Temple, much more digestible this way.

I’ve thought about what would make the best Zelda game. And I think it would involve a few elements

>whether the focus is on open world or dungeons, the overworld should be relatively small in favor of detail and design
>enemies should be rudimentary puzzles themselves
For example

>leaves himself open after an attack OR can be attacked through his shield with an item OR his shield can be negated by an acquirable skill
>basically, all enemies should be able to be beaten by base Link, but items and skills can make it much less of a head ache
>certain key items and mini bosses should be randomized in the overworld
>talking to npcs and side quests should point you toward the key items and bosses to encourage interaction with the world

They'll let you do that if Ultrahand is anything to go by. The only issue is all the empty space. Yeah, the ocean is just that but I don't want them to say, double the size of BotW's map but only 10% of it is worth exploring.

The leak also mentioned Hyrule being accessible one last time and I think the Switch 2's game card can handle all of TotK's layers and a new map, even bigger than that map which is why I don't think we're done with that world just yet. He mentions that it wasn't plot heavy and it was just a place to 'relax' so it's a good excuse to add more 'content' without actually adding anything new and substantial. Finally being able to play in that world without any monsters is ideal for casuals.

The new musou game was underwhelming and barely even utilized her, but I find it really funny how it just made her the actual power behind the throne while every decision that Rauru made on his own accord was bad. Literally nothing would have gone wrong if he just listened to her and every good decision he made was because Mineru suggested it, the game makes you question why he's even in charge. Like despite her barely even being in it it was kind of just confirmation that she's actually best girl.

Have you played the Oracle games at all? If not I'd give that a shot, but it's a bigger time investment as both games are decent length. OoT/MM rando is tough because there are a lot of checks, but as long as you're willing to invest the time in learning the more obscure checks it's a lot of fun. LTTP rando is a lot more accessible. I've never played Four Swords so I can't recommend it either way

Yeah randomizers can be a ton of fun but very frustrating. For instance Ocarina of Time I wouldn't recommend trying that randomizer unless you've played through the game recently and tried to get as much optional stuff as you can. Having that base knowledge of the checks is really helpful, as check trackers and the like assume knowledge of what the checks are. AlttP tends to be a lot more accessible due to less checks and more linear design

Yeah it's a unique game in a lot of elements, and very far ahead of its time story-wise. I think dungeons will look like this (gold will be renamed don't worry, the code is half recycled from an older project). Several events nodes to click on, progressing forward. Each one is a gate: a resource cost (key/item/stamina/health) or a battle. Rooms get revealed when events get resolved, until the end boss fight.

Event nodes in dungeons wouldn't be random, they're unique to their room, and wouldn't respawn when resting like the "fields" ones.
