City Trial in this game is diabolical. There are so many players that I never know if someone is going to randomly show up behind me to rape me then steal my shit.

Just last game I got fifty-something points and got on a wing star, only to find I had zero points in glide, and the rest all went to my thighs. Is there some way to see how my abilities are coming along?

I feel like I am probably missing something important, but the city part of city trial is kind of boring. I never really had many interactions with other players aside from occasionally dying without knowing what happened or swiping some power ups after someone else broke a box. It is hard to tell if it will get better if I figured out how to attack other players to make it feel more dynamic or worse once I figure out how to optimize power up pickups.

The racing mode was much more fun and it is really unfortunate we can't play it online. The cpu players barely do anything, so it is hard to tell how it would play with real people that will attack you back. I didn't play the original, but I get the impression it is the type of game where someone who is really good will leave the other racers behind unless there is something I'm missing.

Also, Rick is very cute and makes me want to buy his game even though I feel mixed on it.

City Trial is fun when you are 8 years old in 2003 and have nothing else to play with your friends, it occupies an awkward zone in current year of being this casual arcade-y party game thing while also having weirdly cutthroat and obtuse battle royale mechanics. Yeah the dedede fight in the original could be brutal, but this one is pretty simple. I just chalk that up to it being “the first one” but hopefully the rest are a lot harder. Other thoughts: I had always dreamed of 16 player city trial given as a kid I never had the lan adapter and could only do 4. Playing with people who ignored the "house rules" established over the years was interesting, it's far more violent, and in turn winning my very first city trial was due to be embracing the violence I never would have done with my friends.
There is a lot I want to explore and test, but I'm honestly tempted to stop playing and save the rest for release as all my concerns and worries have been resolved in the 3 matches I did.
Also the fact the landmine now gives you a >getaloadofthisguycam.webm when you get someone with it is fantastic.
