Invest in dyeworks to get seed money to invest in more dyeworks. Play a siege defense with 100 Rhodok crossbowmen. Play a siege offense with 100 Nord throwing axes. Stack Looting and get a Masterwork Lord's Sword from a pack of Sea Raiders. Download Warsword Conquest and become a greater daemon. Get captured and raped by bandits for two weeks until you're declared a deserter. But most importantly, reinstall it and post in this thread about your campaigns. I'm waiting with bated breath for juicy blogposts.

I been playing dickplomacy and gekokujo mod.
why does the game still hold up so well compared to bannerlord?
im enjoying playing it on and off between other games when bored.

I think being able to destroy armies single handedly because of the awful AI turns it into a power fantasy.
Soloing a horse archer army simply by going to the edge of the map and walking down the line boinking an entire army makes ya feel like Conan.
Defending a castle by simply standing at the top of the ladder and braining hundreds ,if not thousands, of enemies is a special kind of glorious.

Sometimes you just want to turn your brain off and just stomp some bad guys.

So there's still no reason to hop on Bannerlord yet?

What's a good vanilla+ mod? I'm still a newfag to Warband and I haven't played in months. I remember it got annoying and tiring running around doing everything myself, recruiting new soldiers and all that. Is there a way to train soldiers without grinding the training camp and bandits?

Wish I could but it's buggy shit and I refuse to ever waste my time on it again. Always goes the same way, play for a dozen or two hours, get to the point of having extended castle sieges, game randomly crashes 20 minutes into a hard fought battle and I have to start the whole thing over, just for it to possibly crash again. Had the same shit happen on multiple pcs over the years so no, no thanks. It's a shame because it's a really fun game but it falls apart when the endgame is unplayable.

Fire and Sword is its own standalone thing. Its fun but Warband is much better and has way more.
You should play Warband and just download a mod called Diplomacy (or Dickplomacy, dont let the name fool you, just /v/s version of Diplomacy) and then see how you go.

played a few mods for WB
here is my assessment
>Warsword Conquest
offers dungeons and non leadership maxxing progression, beyond vanilla stats each race has unique extra stats you can get like regeneration or ability to negate damage
that being said there a few retarded decisions modder insisted upon, namely certain unite have guaranteed dodges so effectively they 2-3x times the health, one undead unit can insta kill you with swing (chance to insta kill)
each race has different arenas unfortunately those arenas are atrocious, either too big or designed in a such a way that you need to rotate constantly to avoid getting shanked in the ribs (lizardmen arena gives archers elevated positions)

if you enjoy seeing 800+ armies spawn left and right, this the mod for you

got cool dungeons, lot of quests (both unique and radiant variant), makes for better Daggerfall experience

dodge is not as bad anymore since they added the stragger animation everytime it triggers, it still bullshit but not as bad as ward saves which completely block damage when they triggered, most lords have high wardsave that's why they seem to never fucking die, wright blades are indeed bullshit, also siege layouts suck for attacking (unless you are the AI and can throw thousands of troops at it) but thankfully those you can cheese with the broken ass AoE troops like the chaos dwarfs infernos, you can recruit them by taking them prisioners then talking to them
also on my last playthrought i made an army entirely out of companions, all 86 of them, made my character entirely focus on being a gold mage to buff them as much as possible and then procced to shit on everything, they'll eventually get all the special combat abilities (depending on their race) and become better than most troops, it takes time but its great to see it coming together, picis them, in battle they all ride OP unicorns lol except some which don't have any riding skills

Yeah alright. Every single time I play this game I only recruit units with blunt weapons and I make all my money slaving. I've never tried making it through trade or whatever the few times I did it was just a waste of money. I shall try again with the "own a bunch of shops" route.

nah what you described is always the best way to make money, and that remains a constant thought every mod aswell, i never figured out how to make trading work as i find it boring and much rather fight parties on their own and sell all their loot (you get more loot the less troops/companions you have), owning all enterprises is something you'll do everytime regardless of what you are doing since they give you just enough passive income to afford your early/mid game army wages, but not much else really.

get as many companions as you can, give them a crossbow and level their trainer skill, they'll level up your troops and themselves as you go, if you don't wanna spec into the INT skills (most party skills) then have one of your companions do it (trainer goes on every single one because its the only one that stacks) surgery is the most important since it prevents your units from dying thus reducing your attrition and saving high level units from dying randomly, wound treatment is great, so is pathfinding, the game makes it very apparent which companions you wanna spec into what as they get different starting skills, for example Artimenner is the default engineer, borcha the default scouting guy and Jeremus your medic, but you can do what you want with them
then try to complete missions from one village of your choosing, farm relations with them and they'll give you a shitton of recruits which you'll level in a day thanks to your trainer skill, then just grind battles until you have a strong army, then either join a faction as a mercenary or a vassal and go from there
