Yeah, probably. That and it's just so much faster to spit SEO-grabbing bullshit with the machine than a person, all a journo's job was, was to get clicks, and headlines and tags were doing all the lifting on that for years.
It probably just feels like AI has a bigger presence in programming than it does because they fellate it so fucking much, but all the jobs getting AI'd were already getting mass-outsourced to India since it was just boilerplate bullshit that - like you said - doesn't matter if it doesn't really work. If you were competing with Indians for your job you lost about 8 years ago.

The coding meme itself was being pushed by journos as a response to miners losing their jobs, and then repeated back to journalists after layoffs started hitting them.

That it was a stupid line of advice was built into the premise of it from the word go.

This is going to increasingly be all of them- the whole spiel people give you about there 'not being enough people going into the trades :(' is a popular refrain because these days every outfit will just hire people and never fully train them, so you have a handful of real tradesmen supervising workers they have no intention of really teaching that they can keep paying pennies.

Simple things can be really time consuming anon.
If I have to write a parsing script that crawls through datasheets over a long time period which have changed format over time and are often not reporting values in the same way- that's SIMPLE to deal with but it's still a time consuming pain in the ass.
>they're having you write a PARSING script? Bro are you retarded?
Everyone has tasks like this quite often!

Just have connections easiest shit in the world.

I feel bad for anyone in any country who doesn't have contact in government agencies especially the corrupt ones. Its free money hell you can even reduce corruption. It's a simple as telling your friend "Hey you asked for a 2M bribe. He wants to settle for 1.2M do me a solid and accept and he'll keep coming back" then you legally get paid 200K and you've reduced the amount of money spent on corruption

You need to write a customizable, reusable file mapper that contains the most frequently seen columns and their data types. Then you can make a front end that is configurable to as many files as you need and offload it to someone to just set up file readers and load the files to be parsed.

I’ve done this for several companies.

>customizable, reusable file mapper
It's not allowed outside the lab.
It's a secured area. I can write VERY SIMILAR code or go through and manually transcribe everything that can be unclassed, but that's just as tedious as rewriting it or just making something task specific.

Wrong the business owner is stratifying their wealth by destroying the labour market
>we're actually talking about skilled labor that a fairly small percentage of the human population is intellectually capable of.
No my fault your analogy is dogshit and can immediately fall apart
>no one buys it any more
>If they had a choice except the barrier for entry to enter the market is now too high because guess what the business owners have stratified their wealth

I don’t understand why a scalable, reusable solution would “not be allowed”. If we’re just talking about parsing files, and the data between them is at least somewhat similar, it’s very easy to make a reusable function that just takes in modified column parameters to tell the function how to parse your file. I’m assuming you’re dealing with pretty standard data types like strings, ints, floats and dates.

If your job somehow doesn’t allow that, then it sounds like they are making your job more difficult for no good reason. The whole beauty of coding is making more optimal, scalable solutions to these tedious problems. Not writing new code for every permutation.

>It's not allowed outside the lab.
Ahh the classic IT won't let us do IT so we have to hire 40 more people to do a 2 person job. That is normally because your agency's management revolves entirely around risk mitigation. It is what kept them in the job. It is a pretty sound middle management strategy
>Risk mitigate everything to death
>Hire even more people
>Cut those people when budget calls for it
>Basically present as the perfect little bitch manager to board members
Once you learn how middle managers are just pieces of shit on purpose, you realise why you will never get a promotion.

That's the thing, because software is not allowed to be shared easily between labs despite similar equipment setups, the way tests are written to verify spec, functionality, etc is often not written the same way either.
>If your job somehow doesn’t allow that, then it sounds like they are making your job more difficult for no good reason.
