KCD1 is a decently fun game, though there are definitely parts that drag like a motherfucker. It'll take a bit to get into, but once things click you'll have fun.
It is a lot of inventory management, like recent Fallout. You get XP by doing the skill you're levelling, which I always liked. The save system is a little tedious though it adds some challenge and mostly prevents save scumming.
It will be possible to fight multiple enemies by retreating, singling out, and reengaging. Just if you get the DLC, for the love of God do not accidentally talk to Theresa and get sucked into her side of the story. Doesn't take long but holy fucking shit was it boring an nonsensical.
It's cheap right now and will give hours of fun. It's a very solid B+
It's also very comfy to ride into town and NPCs are happy to see you.

You will begin the main story, then return to your home town, then get jumped, then she saves you. Once you find her after the fact, there will be dialogue asking her about it. I forget what specific line, so save before talking to her just in case. I think it had something to do with the dog.
After completing, you get a dog and a shitty shield. You lose nothing substantial by putting it off.

Do NOT "enter" Theresas DLC unless you are prepared to be "stuck" several hours in past Skalitz. There is no "tell the rest of your story at another time" you do all the DLC at once.

Really good experience. Accept that at first you are weak, if you played gothic (you've played gothic, right?) you'll feel at home. Take your time, don't rush, get levels and master combat. Theres no sequel anyway.
