I know people shit on DLSS and upscaling and such, but it's a godsend for my toaster. It's the difference between me having 20 FPS and the game being unplayable and having 60 FPS, but the game doesn't look as sharp. There is no universe where the 20 FPS is the best option. Most of life punishes you for being in poverty, but in this little case, there's finally some help if you're poor. Upscaling is so powerful, it could make a modern GPU last for the next ten years, or even longer. I am grateful, and thank God for it.

The technology itself is fine and good if used as intended. The problem is lazy jeetslop games that can't run at respectable framerates without using it as a crutch and nvidia trying to pass off a 5070 as anywhere near equivalent to a 4090 because you can turn on smeary dogshit 4x framegen.

DLSS without the framegen shit is actually a fantastic technology that pretty much trumps all other forms of antialiasing

The faggots even ITT telling you to kys are also using it anyway, lmao, if not DLSS, then the amd or Intel equivalent, or even just Unreal's TSR dynamic res.

What I hate personally is that you're forced to use it. Game devs no longer cares about minimizing overdraw, so dropping resolution is the fastest way to increase performance as well as reducing rays for forced raytracing. Also "native res" will still use TAA anyway, and DLSS4 DLAA is gonna be the best TAA. FSR native also works well.
I have a 5070ti and I still use it, sometimes with framegen since some games are this badly optimized.

Yeah x4 framegen looks and especially feels like utter gutter horse shit. it's shocking how bad it is.
But x2 is pretty good honestly. DLSS has more artifacting and motion issues than x2 framegen if you get 120fps through it. I checked this on an Oled TV with BFI active, I would instantly see the framegen issues if they existed, but they really don't for the most part, at worst the picture on the edge on the screen are a little wierd but it bothers me less than the DLSS issues which often are visible around your character instead.

I don't know about forced to use it. I never had a machine that could handle anything thrown at it. Framegen saved my life and makes many games that would be unplayable for me playable. And all I see is people attacking it and demanding it gets removed. It's like the one good thing I've ever seen hardware companies do. It actually helps poor people be able to play games that they couldn't ever play. Or at least not play in the next 10 years.
