>who the hell is using a guide for any of this?
I don't know about the others, but Terraria is nearly fucking unplayble without occasional wiki checking. Like sure. you can figure out a bunch of stuff on your own. But some shit is so incredible obtuse. So specialized, how would you ever know what to do? As this video points out:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=3fHgO1a_tOI
How would a new player learn basic tree mechanics? How would they learn that saplings can't be a certain distance from each other or other solid blocks? How would they know that they can make fertilizer if they craft a toilet, then eat food while sitting on the toilet to get poo, which they can then carry to a bottle that's placed on a table, which functions at a crafting station (how would you know this???) But ONLY if you also happen to have BONE and ASH blocks in your inventory? People point out that you can find a lot of stuff out by asking the guide, and sure, that's true. But some shit, you will NEVER know. There are over 5000 items in terraria, is a new player REALLY supposed to bring every single item to the fucking guide? Not to mention the shit the guide does not tell you about.
I love terraria, I beat terraria, you can do a lot of honestly fun trial and error shit in terraria, but there comes a time when you have to admit, the wiki is needed.
Fuck for me personally it's as simple as: How is a new player supposed to know if he has farmed everything from a certain boss, or if there is one more item?
The last time I played a summoner I did over 20 Pumpkin moon events to get a Dark Harvest whip that just didn't drop. At that point, a casual player might just assume he got every item the boss drops.
Fuck, I did like 15 kills of the Wall of Flesh to get my summoner Emblem, and that's a 25% drop chance, as the boss has a 100% ermblem drop chance. But if you keep getting warrior ranger sorcerer, at what point do you just assume there is none for summoner?
