Can we admit the endings of E33 are retarded?

E33's plot is wonky as fuck in general with plot holes and people doing shit that makes no sense constantly. Verso should have left the party and been replaced with gustave in act 3.

Verso's ending is supposed to be the good one, but then developers said both were good and that makes it retarded because both ending are opposites.

Gustave was dead dead, not gommaged. Bringing him back as he was was never a possibility, as seen in the bad ending.

Someone didn't pay attention. Gustave was killed by PRenoir, not a Nevron, so he's just regular dead, like Sciel's husband.

I'm a Gustavechad
Gustave wouldn't like to live in a sandbox
Ultimately Gustave will desire for Verso to stop Painting
me, the player, wins.

The premise that the whole thing is just a family conflict in someone's living room is kind of retarded in and of itself.
Anonymous No.725392719 [Report]
>>725392596
There's more to it than that though. The implication is there's a war going on outside which is what caused the fire that tore their family apart in the first place. And to the people in the canvas they're essentially gods.

I think the plot would've been better without the 'real world' elements. I didn't care for the twist. The Paintress and Curator could've still been mysterious gods of the world without diving into their backstories.

No, Verso's ending is absolutely genius and one of the best endings in the history of video games, and Maelle’s ending only serves to confirm even more the brilliance of Verso’s ending. Verso does what’s right and closes the book, turns off the television, accepts time and death with good grace. Unlike most modern media (and ideologies), where characters challenge the gods, create new worlds, pretend to be things they are not, and feed this human temptation to defy the natural order of things, as if we could create perfect worlds or prevent bad things from happening, the ending of Expedition 33 brings the opposite argument. Sweetness does not overflow, and bitterness does not endure forever; everything passes
Anonymous No.725395457 [Report] >>725396150
>>725395225
>and bitterness does not endure forever
the message of these sorts of games seems to be that bitterness is the only thing that endures forever
kind of hard to see it any other way at the literal end of the world
Anonymous No.725396150 [Report]
>>725395457
I don't know how you came to that conclusion at the end, and I also didn't understand the 'these sorts of games'
Anonymous No.725396384 [Report]
>>725384870 (OP)
I like the initial twist, but think the final ultimatum feels forced for the sake of last minute divisive ending.

That said I think the party continuing to trust Verso at all after he already betrayed them multiple times just so he can continue to be the camp POV character was already super forced.
