There's probably a bunch more, but all of these tried to compete with Steam, and all failed miserably at providing even 1% of the features that Steam has. The only one that even comes somewhat close would be EGS, but even they intentionally didn't implement shit like reviews, basket, discussion forums, etc. etc.

There IS competition, most notable being GoG, which has a niche when it comes to older games and lack of DRM, and Epic, which tried actual monopolistic practices to get some of Steams thunder
GoG is alright but niche while Epic is pretty much a failure due to lacking features that Steam already has

Steam is bloatware, other platforms are better just for the performance gain

They still get regional pricing but it's "only" 50% off which outpriced them from a lot of games. And that's assuming publishers don't just override the suggested regional pricing and ask for the full price.

The first is the most prolific anti-steam shitposter on /v/ after he admitted his hate for steam was losing his CSGO inventory after getting VAC banned. Meanwhile I see the second crop up every now and again usually with thread OPs about how steam STOLE their games and won't give them their account back. Only for the OP to have purchased games via stolen credit cards or just straight up doesn't own the account in question so steam support ghosted them after they failed to provide any evidence that they are the actual account owners.
